The Students of the Month for May have been selected. They were nominated by teachers who recognized academic, social, and civic excellence in the actions and behaviors of these students. The students of the month are:  
Grade 9: Borsha Sarker and Justin Senh 
Grade 10: Valeria Estrada-Corredor and Aicha Ly
Grade 11: Ryan Brown and Haneen Fiazuddin
Grade 12: Emma Luxembourg and Connor Gerrity 
Congratulations to all of these wonderful students!

Also, the high school would like to recognize two students that were inadvertently not recognized at recent awards ceremonies. First, please congratulate Avinash Sreeji for having perfect attendance this year, and secondly, please congratulate Juliet Burdick for her hard work in achieving High Honor Roll. Great work this year.

Attention students: The Media Center will be closed on Tuesday, June 12 from 7:25am -10:30am for the AP Literature Conference. Please plan accordingly. 

AP News:
-All students taking AP Government next year should attend an informational meeting after school on Thursday, June 14 in the Media Center Seminar Room. Any questions please see Mr. D'Amato. 

-Attention all future AP Psychology students. Please come to a mandatory summer work meeting after school tomorrow in the Cafeteria. If you have any questions please see Ms. Caless or Ms. Simcik.

-Any student taking the AP Economics next year should plan to meet on Thursday, June 14 in Room 160 to pick up materials for Summer Work. If you cannot attend please see Mr. Mabey in Room 160. 

-Attention future AP Language and Composition students: please attend a brief meeting this Friday, June 15 at 2:00pm in the cafeteria. We will be going over the summer work requirements during this time. If you cannot attend, please see Ms. Flachsbart or Mrs. McCullough. 

Students, please note: the last day for high school drop in at the Teen Center will be Thursday, June 14. Please plan accordingly.

Just a Reminder - This is your last chance to sign up! The Annual FBLA Basketball 3 on 3 event will be on Thursday, June 14 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm in the gym. The cost is $5 a person. Prizes will be given out to the first, second, and third place teams. Any questions, or for sign up forms - please see Mrs. Barrett in Room 126. See you there.

Attention students: There will be a Travel Club Meeting on Thursday, June 14 at 2:05pm in Room 233. Any students interested in international travel should attend this planning meeting for the Spain-Italy trip for April break of next year. If you are interested but cannot attend this planning meeting please see Sra. Ruiz in Room 233.

Summer work for the UCONN ECE Modern Western Traditions, known formerly as AP European History, will be handed out on Thursday, June 14 after school in Room 156. Any questions, please see Ms. Battaglio in Room 156.

Are you a book worm? Do you love to read? You're certainly not alone. Avid readers of the South Windsor Senior community are eager to connect with South Windsor High School students through literature. They will meet on Monday, June 25 at 10:00am to connect with those students with this common interest and to decide on a book to read and later discuss in July. Anyone who is interested, please join us at our first meeting at the South Windsor Community Center.

Leadership Greater Hartford is currently accepting applications for their Summer Nexus program. Summer Nexus is a seven day leadership program that assembles motivated and energetic high school students for a crash course in leadership development and community involvement. Participants will broaden their horizons by meeting new people and having new experiences. They will gain new skills to expand their resume as well as help them at home, at school and in job hunting. They will meet community leaders and do community service to help the Hartford region. If you are interested in the Summer Nexus program, see Ms. Lane in Room 6 with questions or for an application.

If you are looking for a fun way to explore a career or build your leadership skills this summer, Manchester Community College has options for you. The MCC “Excursions in Learning” program offers a week of leadership, team building and ropes challenges or programs in veterinary science and equine science in July. Flyers with details on the programs and information on how to register are in the Career Center.

Athletic News:
-Girls soccer will have an informational meeting on Thursday in Room 154 to discuss summer opportunities and tryouts in August. If you cannot attend please see Coach Camire. 

-Anyone interested in trying out for the Boys Soccer Teams next fall, please come to a meeting at 3:00pm on Tuesday, June 12 in Room 102. There, you will meet the coaching staff and hear about your summer options and preseason plans.
