***********************************************************************************************
Today is the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, which was the Allied invasion of Normandy and helped turn the tides of World War II.  We would like to recognize the sacrifice that all soldiers made on that day for freedom.

Model UN Country and Committee signups for returning members are up. Use the form on the Model UN classroom to sign up.  If you are not in the classroom, the code is MISCDW (display on screen).  Join soon in order to get ready for next year's conference.

If you are taking AP Economics next year, you must see Mr. Mabey in room 160 before school or during school day to receive summer assignment and book before the end of the day on Friday, June 7.

Also, the National Honor Society will hold an AP book swap Friday, June 7 in the morning right outside of the cafeteria.  They are collecting books, flash cards, and other review materials.  You may also pick up available materials for AP exams that you are taking next year.

If you enjoy working with people and have a flair for fashion, Clothes Mentor may be looking for you.  They have an immediate opening for part-time sales associates and are interested in hiring at least one South Windsor High School student who can work.  Please note, this is more than a summer job as they want someone who will work all year long, whether you are staying on at SWHS or attending college locally.  A complete job description and other materials are hanging in the Career Center or applicants are encouraged to visit the store on Buckland Road.

Seniors – are you excited about the next school you plan to attend and want to show it off?  Stop by the Career Center and look through some of the college gear that admissions representatives have left during their visits this year.  You may find a folder, hat, water bottle, banner, or bag with your future college’s name on it.  Mrs. Carty will happily gift items on a first come, first serve basis.

Students interested in STEM and engineering related fields can check out summer camps happening at UConn this summer.  The Explore Engineering, or E2, is for current sophomore or junior students and the SPARK program is for female students entering 7th through 10th grades and offers four different study options in STEM-related areas.  Flyers are hanging in the Career Center and both programs are listed in the Enrichment section in Naviance.  Application deadlines are coming up soon.

Attention all students taking AP Language and Composition next year:  There will be a brief meeting about the summer work after school on Monday, June 10 at 2:00 pm in the cafeteria.  If you cannot make it, please see Ms. Flachsbart in room 129.

The Italian Club will have its final meeting of the year on Monday, June 10 right after school.  We will be playing bocce and eating pizza, a nice way to de-stress before finals.  Please bring $5 to Mrs. Zaccardelli in room 226.  All are welcome.
