Are you interested in joining a new club next year?  The UNICEF club will provide volunteer opportunities and possible leadership roles.  A brief informational meeting will be held today, Friday, June 7 after school in room 129.

There will be a Young Eagles Rally at Meriden-Markham Airport tomorrow, Saturday, June 9 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Visitors ages 8 to 17 will be able to take a free flight and see what real pilots do before, during and after a flight.  Bring a parent or guardian and register at the event.  A flyer is hanging in the Career Center.

Attention all students taking AP Language and Composition next year:  There will be a brief meeting about the summer work after school on Monday, June 10 at 2:00 pm in the cafeteria.  If you cannot make it, please see Ms. Flachsbart in room 129.

The Italian Club will have its final meeting of the year on Monday, June 10 right after school.  We will be playing bocce and eating pizza, a nice way to de-stress before finals.  Please bring $5 to Mrs. Zaccardelli in room 226.  All are welcome.

Model UN Country and Committee signups for returning members are up.  Use the form on the Model UN classroom to sign up.  If you are not in the classroom, the code is MISCDW (display on screen).  Join soon in order to get ready for next year's conference.

If you enjoy working with people and have a flair for fashion, Clothes Mentor may be looking for you.  They have an immediate opening for part-time sales associates and are interested in hiring at least one South Windsor High School student who can work.  Please note, this is more than a summer job as they want someone who will work all year long, whether you are staying on at SWHS or attending college locally.  A complete job description and other materials are hanging in the Career Center or applicants are encouraged to visit the store on Buckland Road.

Students interested in STEM and engineering related fields can check out summer camps happening at UConn this summer.  The Explore Engineering, or E2, is for current sophomore or junior students and the SPARK program is for female students entering 7th through 10th grades and offers four different study options in STEM-related areas.  Flyers are hanging in the Career Center and both programs are listed in the Enrichment section in Naviance.  Application deadlines are coming up soon.

Please remember that all student schedule changes for next year must take place prior to June 18, School Counselors do not change schedules over the summer, or next fall.  SWHS does not have a free add/drop window.  See your School Counselor soon if you have schedule concerns.

Students who have an interest in attending Williams College are encouraged to apply to their Windows on Williams (WOW) program, which is an all-expenses paid opportunity to spend three days on campus in September, fully integrated into the college’s community.  This is a selective program with preference given to high-achieving students who could not otherwise afford to visit Williams.  To apply, visit admissions.williams.edu/wow.  You can also find the program with a link for application in the Enrichment Opportunities section of Naviance.
