SCHOOL NEWS:

If you have noticed the sayings and paintings over the lockers and you like to paint, come join the first meeting for Paint for Positivity.  We will be meeting on Monday, Sept. 11 after school from 2:15pm-3 in Room 121.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask Mrs. Rentz in Room 121.

Juniors and Seniors who are parking in SWHS lots please pay attention to the following guidelines: 
-Stickers must be stuck to the windshield on the top left driver side. Passes may not be laying on the car dashboard or in any other location on the windshield
- The SWHS gold lot is sold out
- The SWHS Annex Maroon lot has spots available for purchase
- Students without parking passes may only park in Upper or Lower Duprey
- Students parking without a pass or in an incorrect lot may be ticketed or towed
- The speed limit on campus is 15 mph, parking passes may be revoked if speed limits are not   followed.

The FIRST Japanese Club meeting is next Wednesday, September 13, in Room 230.

We will discuss club activities, choose club leadership positions, learn Japanese and watch a Japanese movie.

Science Olympiad will have their first meeting on Thursday, Sept 14th at 2:45 in Room 210.

Table Tennis club is having their informational meeting on Monday, September 11th at 2:10 in Room 122A. No experience is required. The classroom code is: scohwrd." 

The first Italian Club meeting of the year will be held on Wednesday, September 13th right after school in Annex Room 35.  We will be discussing club leadership opportunities and activities. Please join our Google Classroom Code xcjtzd6 to sign up.  SNACKS WILL BE SERVED!

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

College visits start the week of September 18th in the Career Center. The list of scheduled visits is in Naviance under the “What’s New” section and new schools are added daily. see Mrs. Carty in the Career Center with questions

The New England Association for College Admission Counselors (NEACAC) will host its annual college fair on Monday, September 18th from 6-8 PM at Western New England University in Springfield, MA. See Mrs Carty B for 

Manchester Early Learning Center will hold a hiring event on Friday, September 8th from 2-4 PM. A variety of positions are open, including group leaders, high school tutors and support staff.. The Red Cabin restaurant in South Windsor is also hiring for weekend dishwashers. Finally, K-Rockets a STEM school in Ellington is hiring after schools tutors and instructors.Interested? Stop by the Career Center TODAY!

ATHLETICS:  

The Field Hockey team will be hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday, September 13 from 4pm to 7pm at a sandwich shop located at 1006 Sullivan Avenue. Please come out and support the team!

Dance team tryouts will be held on September 13th and 14th from 2:30-4:30 in the Rubber Room. Pick up a registration packet in the office and drop off with a physician's statement prior to tryouts. Email coach Emily with any questions.

There will be an Interact meeting for all RETURNING club members this Thursday, September 7th after school in the Library. The meeting will begin at 2:15 and wrap up before 3. Please email club adviser Mrs. McGinn if you have any questions.

These are a great way for seniors to narrow their application list and connect with the admissions counselors who will read their applications and for juniors to start exploring options. Please sign up in Naviance to attend, and check with your teacher in advance if you will miss class. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Carty in the Career Center.

SCHOOL NEWS:

The Teen Center will open for High School Students beginning Monday, September 11th. We will be open from 2pm to 4:30 or late bus arrival.  Come on down to the Teen Center for some food, fun and relaxation. Take the late bus home from here if you need to. If you haven’t been here before, we’re located at the Community Center across from the high school. We can’t wait to see you all on Monday! 

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:  

FBLA will have its first informational meeting today, September 6th, in Room AN-15 at 2:10pm. We hope to see you there!

We’ll elect committee leaders during this meeting, be there if you would like a leadership position. If you’re interested in joining the Environmental Club, keep an eye out for our next meeting!

Mind's Eye is having our final coffee house of the year this Friday, June 9th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the school Library! Come celebrate student art, writing, and music! Snacks will be provided. All are welcome!

The Black Student Alliance will host a bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 10th at a grocery store located at 1739 Ellington Road. Please support our efforts to raise funds to visit the Museum of African American History in Boston.

Need help studying for final exams?  Come to the Cafeteria on Wednesday, June 7th for free tutoring in any of your classes. Snacks will be provided.

The Cafeteria will be open during exams.

Congratulations to the girls track and field 4x100 team of Audrey Manning, Jaya Pichay, Susan Otaluka, and Serena Thaker, who qualified to compete in the State Open.

Join Boys Hockey for a pre-season fundraiser at a frozen ice/custard shop on June 7th from 6-9 p.m. at either the South Windsor or Vernon location.  

Anyone interested in playing Boys Soccer in the Fall, there will be an informational meeting today, June 6th at 2:50 p.m. in Room 102.

Congratulations to the girls track and field athletes that qualified to compete in the Class L State Meet: Audrey Manning, Serena Thaker, Susan Otaluka, Jaya Pichay, Ariana Rosario, Keeley Scott, Grace Smith, Chiara Papa, Olivia Petgrave, Katelyn Drenga, Maya Hathorn, Bridget Carroll, Kevian Curtis, London Bascomb, Sophia McCormack, Valerie Turgeon, and Maddie Cunha. The 4X100 team qualified to compete in the State Open this week.

There will be a mandatory meeting for those students enrolled in AP Chemistry for the 2023-2024 school year on Monday, June 5th at 2 p.m. in Room 223. Summer work will be assigned. Please see Mrs. Powell if you cannot attend.
