The Class of 2025 is hosting a Gingerbread House Competition in the SWHS Cafeteria on December 1st. Competition is open to all grades and staff members and the registration form is in your class’s Google Classroom. The fee is $15 per team. Fee and registration is due November 17th.

ATHLETICS:
Have you ever wanted to try gymnastics? Make sure to register and come join our SWHS gymnastics team this winter season! All levels of experience are welcome, no experience whatsoever necessary. Coach is happy to train any and all athletes with a positive, supportive attitude and a good work ethic. Come boost your confidence and strength while learning a new sport in a fun, positive and safe environment! You will have the definite opportunity to compete and show off all your new skills while being involved in your school and community! This season, one day per week, we will be working out with a professional trainer at LIFE Fitness in Ellington. Our preseason & parent meeting will take place at 4pm during the last hour of our first practice on Friday, December 1st from 2:45pm to 5:00pm at Tri-Town Gymnastics in Tolland. One way transportation from SWHS after school to Tri-Town is provided. It also estimates that 46% of the world's trees have been cleared over the past 12,000 years. Come to our meeting on Monday in Room 206 to learn more. New members are always welcome. There will be a Girls Basketball Informational Meeting on Thursday 11/16 at 2:15 pm in Room 102.The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes. South Windsor High School will administer the ASVAB CEP again this year. The test will be held on Wednesday, December 13th at 8:00am in the Seminar Room at SWHS. Whether you’re planning to go to college, a vocational school, or the Military, or you’re just not sure what you want to do yet, the ASVAB CEP can provide you with important information about your skills and interests -- and help get you on the right path toward a satisfying career. There are a limited number of seats available, so seats will be first come, first serve. The test is open to all students in grades 10-12. November 11, 2023 marks Veterans Day. Veterans Day occurs every year in the United States in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I, known as Armistice Day. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. We take this opportunity each year to thank and honor those that have served our country and continue to serve. This year all students will be viewing a Veterans Day ceremony at South Windsor High School on 11/10. Additionally, Veterans from our community including representatives from the Patriotic Commission and American Legion will be visiting classes. Thank you to all Veterans in our school community and greater community for their service and sacrifice.

Attention all SWHS students! November 13th is World Kindness Day. To help celebrate, the Interact Club will have "Kindness Communication" slips available during all four lunch waves this Friday, November 3rd. During each lunch wave Interact officers and volunteers will be circulating the crowd to collect any kind words you may have for your friends and/or SWHS faculty! The "kindness communication" slips will then be delivered to homeroom teachers for distribution on Friday November 10th. Let's all help brighten someone's day and spread some kindness
The Jump Start Program is back! If you are looking for a way to give back to our community and you have excellent communication skills, then this may be the opportunity for you! Jump Start volunteers visit TEMS once a week after school to help a middle school student with their homework and class projects.
