SCHOOL NEWS:

The Class of 2027 is hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday, December 20th, from 11am-10pm at a local Shake place at 601 Evergreen Way. Show the flier from our Instagram or use the code “DONATE25” on the SHAKE APP for pickup, delivery, or kiosk when you check out. They will donate 25% of your total purchase to the Class of 2027!

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES: 

Please join us on Wednesday, December 20th for our next Italian Club meeting right after school in room 105.  We will be making Italian desserts like:  ricotta cookies, cannoli, pizzelle, hot chocolate, and tiramisù!  Space is limited so please give $5 to Mrs. Zaccardelli in room Annex 35 to save a spot.

The Class of 2026 is hosting a fundraising at a local sandwich and soup shop located at 100 Hemlock Ave. on December 13th from 4-8pm. Please see the Class of 2026 Instagram page or the bulletin board for the poster to show at checkout.

Attention Seniors: the final wave of Capstone presentations will take place on January 23 and 24.  You must present your Capstone in January.  In order to present, your written work must be turned into your advisor's Google Classroom by Friday January 12th.  You then need to fill out the Google Form on the Capstone Website so we know you are ready to present and can reserve you a time slot.  Reach out to your adviser if you have questions.

Support the Sophomore Class this Wednesday, Dec 13th from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at a local sandwich shop in Evergreen Walk. Use the code fund4u.

There is a Student Council Meeting on THURSDAY, December 7th in Room 166 at 2:10-3 pm. All representatives are encouraged to attend. We will be making posters for the Holiday Spirit Week before Winter break to hang in teachers' classrooms. 

Attention SWHS Community! December 7th is CCMC’s Pajama Day for the KIDS!  Interact is challenging you and your homeroom to compete in our first annual PJ Palooza to be held on Thursday, December 7th.  Students and teachers can donate at least one dollar and earn points for wearing specific pj attire like pj pants, matching pj outfit, slippers, bathrobes, sleep stuffies, etc. Bonus points will be awarded to homerooms with participating teachers. Points will also be awarded for specific monetary amounts that homerooms can collectively raise. Each grade level will have a winning homeroom with prizes including a student pizza party and duty coverage for the winning homeroom teacher by a SWHS admin! Please review PJ Palooza posters around the school for the official point breakdown.

SCHOOL NEWS:

Attention students of SWHS: Nominate a staff or faculty member for this month's Staffulty of the Month! This is someone you feel demonstrates kindness, understanding, encouragement, and more through this school year.  Nominations will be reviewed by Student Council officers. Two staff members will be selected every month. They will be recognized at monthly faculty meetings and on the school website. Please be school-appropriate with your nominations. 

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:  

Fashion Club will meet today after school in Room 149A from 2-2:45. Everyone is welcome and we would love to have you join us! Please arrange for transportation home.

The Environmental Club will meet virtually on Monday, December 4th at 12 PM. See our google classroom for the link to the meeting.  Classcode 5szwfah Here's the Environmental Club fact of the week: 78% of all marine mammals are at risk of choking on plastic. They are also at risk of getting caught in fishing nets or suffering other accidental deaths. Come to our meeting on Monday to learn more. New members are always welcome. See Mrs. Eitel with any questions.

Interact is hosting a fundraiser to raise money for goodie bags for the ER nurses at CCMC.  Join us at a local frozen yogurt shop located at 1500 Pleasant Valley Road on Friday, December 1st from 5-9pm.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

South Windsor High School will administer the ASVAB CEP again this year.  The test will be held on Wednesday, December 13th at 8:00am in the Seminar Room at SWHS.  Whether you’re planning to go to college, a vocational school, or the Military, or you’re just not sure what you want to do yet, the ASVAB CEP can provide you with important information about your skills and interests -- and help get you on the right path toward a satisfying career. There are a limited number of seats available, so seats will be first come, first serve.  The test is open to all students in grades 10-12.  If you would like to take the ASVAB CEP please email Mr. Briggs at [email protected] or stop by the School Counseling Office

What do Kentucky, Japan and chicken all have in common? Come to the next Japanese CLub meeting today in Room 230 to find out, eat traditional snacks, learn about the unique KFC Japanese Santa, and watch anime.

The Strategy Club will meet after school in the back of the media center this Wednesday.

The Entrepreneurship Club will meet on Thursday, November 30th in Annex 17 from 2:15 - 3:30pm.  We will look at "Shark Tank" businesses that employ strategic partnerships so feel free to bring a snack and join us for a fun and relaxing look at entrepreneurship!
