This week's tip from the Writing Center: Talking out your ideas before writing can help you get past that "stuck" feeling of not being sure where to start. For more help on your writing, stop by the Writing Center. We are open in Room 136 on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2-3pm. Appointments are available on our website or by drop-in.

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

The South Windsor Dollars for Scholars application portal opens for the Class of 2024 on Sunday, January 21st. This is a generous scholarship program with numerous opportunities for students who live in or attend school in the town of South Windsor. Students will fill out one application that matches them to a number of scholarships. The scholarships have a wide variety of criteria, so any student planning to attend college should consider applying. To find the portal link, search the Naviance scholarship database for “Dollars for Scholars”. Be sure to read ALL application instructions before you begin. The portal closes on March 15th.

Any senior who has a college acceptance, military enlistment, full-time job offer or other plan for after graduation can share their good news through the Google Form posted in your ‘Class of 2024’ Classroom. These announcements will be featured on the television screens outside School Counseling and in the Main Lobby and will also be featured in the next month’s Counseling and Career Connection newsletter. You may fill the form out multiple times as new acceptances and opportunities come in.

The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is offering an Experiential Learning Program via Zoom for high school students in grades 10-12 on February 2nd from 12:30-2:00 PM. The session will provide an overview of careers in the Judicial Branch with breakout sessions in specific areas.
