Looking for a way to get to work or to the mall? Students who are interested in learning how to ride the Transit Bus can join us for a free presentation TODAY, Wednesday, October 16th at 2:30 p.m. at the Teen Center. There will be free food and a brief explanation about the bus routes, bus fare, etc.
Capstone Update: Any Senior who plans to present their Capstone on Tuesday, November 5th must have all written work submitted to their adviser by Friday, October 25th and must fill out the Capstone Presentation Google form located on the Capstone website. This Google form must be filled out and submitted by Monday, October 28th.
FCCLA will have their next meeting on Thursday, October 17th in Wapping room 11 right after school. Please make sure to have your sign up forms and dues. There is still time to sign up so come by and check out FCCLA.
The Debate Club will meet every Thursday right after school in room 120 starting this Thursday, October 17th. Join us if you want to debate current and controversial topics, as well as sharpen your persuasive and reasoning skills. If you have any questions about the club, see Mr. Avalos in room 104.

Are you interested in giving back to the community and making a difference in a younger student's life? The Jump Start Tutoring Program is looking for students who are interested in working with middle school students every Thursday afternoon. Tutors help the TE students complete homework, study for exams and finish projects. You can volunteer for 1, 2 or all 3 sessions - whatever works for your schedule. If you are qualified and interested in becoming a tutor, please pick up an application in the School Counseling Office this week. First session forms should be returned by this Friday, October 18th.

Athletic News:
Girls’ Field Hockey played a great game yesterday, even though the final score was not in our favor. We played a great game, spreading the field, anticipating the pass, and kept possession of the ball for the majority of the game. Morgan Saylor and Gianna Cardinale did a great job controlling the ball throughout the field, giving us opportunities to move up. Kelli Mann scored our goal. Communication was evident among the defense showing how we can stand together as a team even when things don't necessarily go our way. Way to fight hard ladies.
The Girls' Soccer program would like to thank the friends, family and faculty that supported our Kick for Pink effort on Tuesday. On the field, paced by an Emma Smith hat trick, a Jordan Roberts tally and the steadfast choreography of Ella Manning, the Lady Bobcats defeated Hall by a score of 4 to 1. Maria Galley had 4 saves for the win. The girls play again Thursday at Tolland.

Good Morning Bobcats, the School Counseling department is offering a program where students meet as small groups in the School Counseling Office to talk about teenage stress, and how to recognize and react in stressful situations. If interested, please see Mr. Wry or your School Counselor.
For students enrolled in any MCC articulated classes at South Windsor High School, it is now time to make sure you register for a Banner ID if you do not already have one from a previous class. You will have until Thursday, October 31st to do so. Registration is free and any credits earned will also be free. Please see Mr. Leon or Mrs. Carty in School Counseling if you have any questions about this very important process.
Attention Bobcats: A fellow student is holding a costume drive for the Halloween Helpers Organization. This organization gives to children in need. Please donate any lightly used, full costume to the donation box located in the SWHS main lobby. Donations will be accepted until October 25th.

Athletic News:
Friday’s PINK OUT game against Simsbury was a success! With an overall score of 5-2 our SW Bobcats game out strong from the start. Leading us with goals was Bella Sanchez with her first hat trick of the season! Lindsey Tortora and Kayden Burke played well together on the right side to help transition and move the ball up and down the field. And our defensive diamond had outstanding communication in the back field. The Bobcats held their ground keeping the field wide and keeping possession of the ball for majority of the game. Great team work ladies!
Congratulations to South Windsor Bobcat Football program as they swept the East Hartford Hornets this past week. The freshman team started the winning streak on Thursday by defeating East Hartford at 12-8 with Sam Meleshenko and Trevor Kniffen on the receiving end of two touchdown passes from Ethan LaGuardia. Colin Berry along with Josh Pearson led the defensive. On Saturday, the JV team defeated East Hartford 24-7 with Emeka Okoh catching two touchdowns from Tyrone Casey including a sensational one handed grab. The defense led by Josh Colon was stingy all day only allowing 7 points and scoring 8 of its own. 2 on a safety and 6 when Josh Colon picked up a fumble and took it in for a touchdown. Friday afternoon, Varsity defeated East Hartford 28 to 14. Anthony Bellezzi had an outstanding game behind a dominating offensive line. Two touchdown passes, including one on the first play from the line of scrimmage to Malik Montgomery and the last on a pass to Jack Gorborino to put the game out of reach. In between Bellezzi scored twice on Quarterback sneaks. The defense led by Jack Perra had its best game of the year only allowing two touchdowns and shutting out the Hornets in the second half. Next for the Cats will be Hall High school during Homecoming week.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Volleyball team!! Last Friday, they had a 3-0 win over Platt High, which guarantees a trip to the State Tournament. Last night, the team defeated East Catholic 3 games to 2 and remains undefeated at home this season.
Our Bobcat Field Hockey teams fought hard yesterday at Newington and both teams came out on top, Varsity winning 4-1 and JV 1-0. Varsity was able to work the ball and keep it down towards the opposing teams’ cage, giving us opportunities to score. Lindsey Tortora, Kayden Burke, Gianna Cardinale, and Kelli Mann lead the team with one goal each. Next game is Friday, October 11th and is our PINK OUT game. Come out and support your field hockey classmates!
There will be a basketball open gym from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8th.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Bristol Central High School yesterday by a score of 3 to 2. Caitlin Sauer and Emma Smith had a goal and an assist each and Ella Manning had her first of the season. Kelly Morson, Maddie Westfall and Candace Walsh had wonderful games while Maria Galley made 7 saves. The team next plays Tuesday at East Catholic.

Yesterday, the Math Team had a strong start in the first league meet of the season with a close 2nd place finish. Turning in perfect meets for the Bobcats were Aryan Kalia, Jaideep Naik, Yunfei Zheng, Anthony Chen, and Arnav Thakrar.

The Class of 2021 is selling t shirts for $12 until October 8th. Please get your t-shirt order in as soon as possible. Payments can be made in cash once the shirts arrive. TAP club has their first upcoming volunteer event at a local food bank/shelter in Manchester on Saturday, October 5th. If interested please sign up on the Google classroom by Friday, October 4th. Anyone interested in one of the cool new TAP t-shirts should fill out the T-shirt form on Google Classroom and bring in $12 to Mr. Webb, no later than Friday, October 11th.

East Hartford High School is hosting a FAFSA Day this Saturday, October 5th form 11:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. where students and parents can get help filling out their FAFSA forms. See the flyer in the Career Center for complete details on where to go and what to bring.
Athletic News:
Last Friday, Boys Soccer earned a 3-0 shutout vs. EO Smith. Jonny Rossetti, Nick Gattuso and Junior deOliveira scored for the Bobcats. Mike Pandiscia earned the shutout.
Last night, Boys Soccer played to a 1-1 tie versus Enfield. They completed dominated all 4 periods but could not come away with the win in overtime. Nick Gattuso scored the only goal for the Bobcats. The boys play again Friday after school at home vs last year's state champion Plainville.
The Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Enfield yesterday by a score of 7 to 2. Ella Manning turned in another quality 80 minutes. Goals were scored by Emma Smith, Caitlin Sauer and Karly Suppicich. Jordan Roberts, Lindsay Fishman and Rhianna O'Meara added assists and Maria Galley had three saves. The team next plays at Bristol Central on Thursday.
Congratulations to the Girls Volleyball program! Last night they earned another Bobcat, which means that all three teams won in their games against the Enfield Eagles. The freshmen team won 2-1, JV won 2-1 and Varsity needs to won 3-0. Great job Ladies! Keep earning those Bobcats!

If you are interested in aviation – whether flying or working on planes – there will be a Young Eagles Rally at Meriden - Markham Airport on Saturday, October 5th from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. A parent or guardian must accompany you in order for you to register to take a free flight and learn about what pilots do before, during and after a flight. You can find a flyer with details on the Programs and Events board in the Career Center.

For students enrolled in any MCC articulated classes at South Windsor High School, it is now time to make sure you register for a Banner ID if you do not already have one from a previous class. You will have until October 31st to do so. Registration is free and any credits earned will also be free.
