Please note…Monday is a regular start day. Classes begin promptly at 7:25am!

There will be a student fan bus for the SWHS state tournament semifinal football game on Sunday 12/3 at Greenwich. There is a $15 charge, which includes the bus and game ticket for admission. Any interested students should sign-up in the Main Office and pay the $15 at the time of sign-up.

SADD would like to thank South Windsor Nation for their generosity during our Sock Drive. With your help we were able to donate over 200 pairs of socks.

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test, known as the ASVAB, will be offered here Thursday, December 7. Signups are in School Counseling. If you have questions, please see Dr. LaRochelle.

Got the acting bug? Come try out for the spring play this Monday and Tuesday, December 4 and 5, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm in Mrs. White's room, Room 144.

The Italian Club will take a club picture for the yearbook Monday, December 4 before school at 7:20am in the upper pendulum area. Be there if you want to be included in the picture! We will also have our Holiday Celebration right after school Monday in the Seminar Room. Go to our Google classroom to sign up to bring in something to share. We have games and other activities planned. All are welcome so come join us! See Mrs. Zaccardelli in Room 226 with any questions. 

This year, our school’s National Honor Society is expanding its tutoring program to cover all subjects and to span the whole school year. If you are looking to receive extra help from one of your peers in NHS for free, please email [email protected]

Ever play matchmaker for someone? You might be the perfect candidate for the spring play. Auditions for parts in The Matchmaker, take place Monday and Tuesday, December 4 and 5, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm in Mrs. White's room, Room 144.

A representative from the United States Air Force will be in the Career Center tomorrow morning at 11am.  Interested students should sign up in Naviance and arrive on time to the visit.

Have you ever thought about joining the Peace Corps or getting involved in global community service?  A local student who serves in the Peace Corps and is stationed in Paraguay has offered to come to South Windsor High School while she is home during the holidays and share her experiences with students considering a similar path.  If you would like to learn more about how to be selected for the Peace Corps, what it is like to serve in this role and how you can impact lives in impoverished communities around the world, please see Mrs. Carty in the Career Center. Her visit will be scheduled based on student interest.

Students interested in auditioning for UConn’s School of Fine Arts should note that audition dates are earlier this year due to the January 15 application deadline.  A poster listing all dates is hanging outside the Career Center.

The first meeting for the Vegan/Vegetarian Club has been rescheduled!  Please join us Monday, December 4 in Room 256.

Mind's Eye will hold its monthly meeting today, Tuesday, November 28, at 2:00pm in Room 146. New members are welcome to attend!

Attention students needing helping with their FAFSA form! Manchester Community College is holding FAFSA DAYS to help you complete your application. They will offer a session today from 4:30pm-6:30pm and another one in February. For information on how to register or what to bring with you, go to www.manchestercc.edu/financial-aid or see the flyer hanging in the Career Center.

Bobcat Foodies…join us on a culinary tour of Asia for November's Cooking Club. Bring $5 to Ms. Cliff or Sra. Ruiz to reserve your spot in our next cooking session, November 29. Your money is due tomorrow--we will NOT accept money after Thanksgiving break.

Today Common Ground representatives are collecting cash donations to help children with sickle cell disease. If you would like to donate, you can give cash donations during all lunch waves in the cafeteria

The South Windsor Gay Straight Alliance will meet this afternoon in room 148 after school. Bring your ideas, concerns and positive energy! New members are always welcome!!

There will be an informational meeting tonight at 7:00pm in the Media Center for all students interested in the Travel Club's trip to California this summer.  If you are unable to attend, please see Señora Ruiz in Room 233.

There will be an informational meeting on Monday, November 20 at 7:00pm in the Media Center for all students interested in the Travel Club's trip to California this summer. If you are unable to attend, please see Señora Ruiz in room 233.

Yoga club will meet on Monday at 2:15pm in the Chorus Room to practice yoga. All experience levels are welcome! Bring a friend and give it a try. For more information contact Ms. Lane.

The CT Army National Guard will have a representative in the Career Center on Monday morning at 10:00am. Please sign up to attend this visit.

Today’s fast fact presented by the Environmental Club: Honey bees — wild and domestic — perform about 80 percent of all pollination worldwide. A single bee colony can pollinate 300 million flowers each day. Grains are primarily pollinated by the wind, but fruits, nuts and vegetables are pollinated by bees. The Environmental Club meets every Thursday after school…come join us! We'd be glad to have you! 

Juniors and seniors and their parents attending tonight's It Takes One retreat should report to the school no later than 5:30pm. Please note that any student who is not signed up will not be allowed admission to the event. Don't forget to pack a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, clothing and other items needed for Friday. Students are expected to stay through the day on Friday, as the final assembly will take place at the end of the day. We are looking forward to an eventful evening!

Come to the South Windsor Holiday Hoopla! This Saturday, November 18 from 9:00am – 3:00pm. It is a Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair to benefit Operation Graduation. Free admission. Arts & Crafts, Direct Sales Vendors, Local Authors, Baked Goods, Raffle, Baby sitting on premises, Book Sale, Wreaths, Kettle Corn and so much more!

-The girls’ swim team got stacks on stacks on stacks last night at State Finals. Emma Hapkiewicz went two lifetime bests in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle, breaking her own two school records. The 200 yard medley relay team of Liz Savidge, Chrissy Jones, Sarah Mulcahy, and Alanna Mawhinney came in clutch, breaking the school record and coming in 7th place overall. Both Emma and the medley relay team, along with Sydney Ruschmeier, will compete for the final time this season on Saturday at the State Open. Just so you know, the Lady Bobcats also copped top 10.

Congratulations to Meghna Mazumdar! Meghna attended the National Outstanding Participant Leadership Summit in Orlando, FL last week and won the grand prize…a $20,000 college scholarship! As the youngest participant, she spoke in front of over 1,300 attendees, met President George W. Bush, and spent four days competing in various leadership & networking skills as well as building relationships that she will have for many years to come. Well done, Meghna!

Hello, Cooking Club members! Reserve your spot for the November Cooking Club session on November 29 by bringing $5 to Ms. Cliff or Sra. Ruiz. Our menu will transport your taste buds on a delicious tour of Asia. We will also have a planning meeting tomorrow for officers and other interested members.  

Reminder for juniors and seniors attending the It Takes One Retreat tomorrow: be at school by 5:30pm tomorrow evening. Please bring sleeping bags, pillows, clothes, toiletries, and any other necessities for the following day at school. You are expected to stay through the entire school day Friday so you can attend the final assembly. Also, please check your grade-level Google classroom for a link to sign up for the breakout sessions on Thursday night. Signups will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please see Ms. Flachsbart if you have any questions.

The FIRST robotics team is having a fundraiser at a local Mexican restaurant on Hale Road TONIGHT from 5:00 - 9:00pm. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to the team. Don't forget to mention that you're there to support the Bobcat Robotics team, so that your purchase applies to the fundraiser.
And…the freshman class will be having their fundraiser at a local Mexican restaurant in Evergreen Walk. Please go on social media to get the flyer. The flyer must be shown to get the proceeds! See you there!

Student Council would like to thank everyone for their donations of canned goods at the football game this past weekend. We collected well over 1,000 goods overall and have donated them to a local food bank! Thanks again for your contributions.

A representative from Norwich University will be in the Career Center tomorrow at 10:30 AM. All college visits that had been scheduled for Thursday, November 16 have been cancelled due to student involvement in the It Takes One program. If you are a student who had signed up for the University of Delaware visit, you may pick up admission materials after school on Thursday or Friday morning, as the representative will be dropping them off in the Career Center.

-Sign-ups for winter sports are due TOMORROW in order to be eligible for the first day of tryouts.  If you tried out for or played a fall sport, stop by the Main Office to move your sports forms forward, and drop off your check for $125.00.
