Students: Going forward, all stairwells will no longer be considered “one way.” Please walk on the right hand side when using the two-way stairwells.

There are new changes coming to the National Honor Society tutoring hours beginning on Monday, April 5th. Since TEMS is not getting out until 2:40 p.m., our NEW Tuesday and Thursday hours will be 3:15-4:15 p.m. Wednesdays will no longer be available. 

The revised bell schedule with a dismissal time of 2:00 p.m. will begin on Monday, April 5th. The updated bell schedule and the April calendar can be found on the website under Calendars/8-period Class Schedules.

Attention Students who were accepted into a language honor society last year, March of 2020. We are moving forward this year virtually for the induction ceremonies for French, Latin, Italian and Spanish. Letters and virtual program information will be going home in the next week with instructions. All 2020 recipients will have a virtual induction at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 22nd.

Do you have gently used sporting equipment that you no longer need? Equipment Assist collects items to donate to the Hartford Police Athletic League (PAL) which benefits underserved youth. They are collecting all types of gently used sports equipment including: cleats, sneakers, skates, baseball gloves, balls, helmets, shin guards in all sizes. A bin is located between the two showcases in the main lobby and they can pick up larger items. Collection deadline is April 24th. Looking for some motivation to get out and move this spring? The Connecticut Air National Guard is hosting a virtual Go Far Run Challenge to get high school students to run 10,000 miles! The challenge takes place the entire month of April. Top 5 mile entries will earn prizes. Pick up a brochure with entry information in the Career Center.
 
A representative from Salve Regina University will hold a virtual visit with interested SWHS students on Tuesday, March 30th at 1:00 p.m. Please sign up in Naviance if you would like to attend.

Members of the Math Team are hosting the SWHS Math Team Tournament, a series of competitions every other week involving a variety of math topics and puzzles. The tournament will be held TODAY at 2:30 p.m. Teams of 2 to 5 will prove who's the best in an all out Algebra Jeopardy death match. Students of all grade levels are welcome. K-Rockets Engineering and Technology School, an after-school academy in Ellington, is hiring current juniors and seniors to be Summer Camp Counselors helping to provide access to engaging Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program. For more information there is a flyer in the Career Center, or if you are a distance learner please contact Mrs. Carty by email.

The event will include presentations from all 12 CT community colleges and will highlight degree programs, 4-year transfer opportunities (including guaranteed admission options), FREE early college programming, financial aid and much more. Unified for Underprivileged Girls is having a fundraising event on Saturday, March 20th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at a local bread and soup restaurant in Evergreen Walk! All proceeds will be donated to underprivileged girls in Kenya! Please present this flyer before ordering your meal that way proceeds are donated to us! This flyer can also be found on the U.U.G. website linked on the clubs and activities page on the school's website. Spread the word and see you then!

Student Council and BPO have started a "Staffulty of the Month" award. Students can nominate faculty and staff - someone you feel demonstrates kindness, understanding, encouragement, and more through this interesting school year. Nominations will be reviewed by Student Council officers. Two staff members will be selected every month. They will be recognized at monthly faculty meetings and on the school website. For students taking Personal Finance this semester, time is running out to register for free college credit through MCC. The deadline to create a Banner ID in the MCC College Career Pathways program is this Friday, March 19th. Check your e-mail for instructions you received at the beginning of the semester and see Mr. Leon or Mrs. Carty if you have any questions.

March Madness is back!  Let’s all celebrate by wearing our favorite college gear tomorrow, March 19th! 

Congratulations to all who participated in South Windsor For the Kids this year. The fundraising total revealed at Friday’s virtual dance marathon showed that you raised over $11,400 for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center through Huskython. Since the start of Huskython, South Windsor is the leading fundraiser of high schools in Connecticut. Special congratulations goes to this year's club leaders Leah Craig, Olivia Drezek, Lindsey Lucia and Emma Sansom.

The CONNect Virtual College Fairs offer an opportunity for students to learn about CCSU, ECSU, SCSU, WCSU, and UConn in an on-line meeting format. There will be representatives from each university available to answer questions. The program will run 3 times: March 18th, April 21st and May 12th.
