Don’t forget to vote tomorrow for your Class Officers and Student Council Officers!

Environmental Club is returning for the 2020-2021 school year. This year the club will be completely virtual. If interested please join our NEW Google Classroom, code: 5szwfah. Our first virtual meeting will be on Tuesday, September 29th at 2:30 p.m. where we will define our agenda for the year.

We are excited to share that the SW Teen Center will reopen to SWHS students on Thursday, October 1st! We will be open for high school students on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can walk across the street to the teen center to unwind, have a snack and catch up on school work. An East Hartford warehouse and shipping company is looking for part-time help. Interested students can find information hanging in the Career Center or on our blog. The company has a training program available for workers who show potential for advanced opportunities.

The Strategy Club will meet this week on Wednesday, September 30th at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will be held virtually on Google Meet. The club will have several activities going at the same time, including D&D and Among Us and we are hoping to add Minecraft and Smash Bros. ATHLETIC NEWS:

The South Windsor/East Catholic/Glastonbury Girls’ Co-Op Ice Hockey coaching staff will conduct a prospective player Zoom Meeting on Wednesday, October 7th at 7:00 p.m. This is a mandatory informational meeting for all freshman and other prospective student-athletes who were not on the team last year, but are interested in playing Girls’ Ice Hockey in 2020-21. Returning players should not attend this meeting. In order to register for this meeting, interested student-athletes should contact Coach Usseglio at [email protected]. If anyone cannot make the meeting, they should email Coach Usseglio.

The Common Ground Leadership Program is now accepting applications. Any student interested in improving leadership skills, community service and working on their college resume, should reach out to Mr. Orsini by email or see him in room 234A for an application. The deadline for all applications is Friday, October 2nd.

You are strongly encouraged to turn your camera on so that the admissions representative can better connect with you. Next week’s virtual visits will be hosted by the following colleges or universities: Merrimack College, University of New Haven, Roger Williams University, Sacred Heart University, Tufts University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Rutgers University. Transportation will not be provided unless previously requested. Please report to your testing room by 7:15 a.m., testing will end at approximately 12:15 p.m. Lunch will not be served.

You should consider posting virtual posters on the Freshman Google Classroom (these must be approved by the main office prior to posting). The Candidate Application Form for the 9th Grade Class Officer Elections will be available on the Freshman Google Classroom page. DEADLINE to submit this form is Friday, September 18th. A copy of your campaign speech and your video are to be emailed to Mrs. Barrett [email protected] (rm 122A) by Wednesday, September 23rd. You should consider posting virtual posters on the Freshman Google Classroom (these must be approved by the main office prior to posting). All potential candidates will meet on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 virtually after school at 2:30 p.m. Elections will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Environmental Club is returning for the 2020-2021 school year. This year the club will be completely virtual. If interested please join our NEW Google Classroom, code: 5szwfah Our first virtual meeting will be on Tuesday September 29th at 2:30 p.m. where we will define our agenda for the year.

Today’s virtual college visit is Champlain College. Students who register for the visit will have access to the link through Naviance just before the 1:00 p.m. meeting time. Virtual visits will also take place all day tomorrow during independent learning. Students can sign up to meet with Seton Hall University, University of Saint Joseph, Landmark College, and SUNY Albany. Go to your Naviance homepage and look under What’s New to see the complete list of virtual college visits. To sign up for a visit, click on the visit date and click Register. You MUST sign up in order to have the link and attend. Reach out to Mrs. Carty with any questions.

Science Olympiad will be meeting virtually and planning for competition. Join the Google classroom with code: mromdrr and complete the survey when you get there.

Virtual College Visits start TODAY! University of Scranton will host an online meeting at 1 p.m. today. Champlain College will host a 1 p.m. visit tomorrow. Good Morning! Here are a few friendly reminders: 
All students must wear a mask- extra masks are available in the Admin Offices, the Nurse’s Office and at the Safety Desk.
Remember to maintain appropriate social distancing as best as possible while on school property. 
When you arrive at school please proceed directly to class in the morning.  
If you are not feeling well please stay home!
If you have a period 1, 2, 7, or 8 study hall make sure to get a late arrival/early release form from School Counseling! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to sleep in or leave early! 
Is your teacher absent today? If so, make sure you login to google classroom to complete all your assignments and the attendance form! 
School counselors are available by email for all non-emergency items, if it’s an emergency don’t hesitate to go down and see them! 
The Media Center is not available during study halls and is open by appointment only.

For students starting to look at colleges or getting ready to apply… Virtual College Visits start next week through the Career Center. These visits will take place at 1 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and throughout the day on Wednesdays. With such unique circumstances surrounding the college admissions process, these visits are more helpful and important than ever! Please see Naviance for a complete list of scheduled meetings to find the date and time for any college that interests you. Students: If you still have library books checked from either TE or the high school, please drop them off at the Library Media Center. There is a book bin right inside the doors to the library.
