Attention students! This year you will be using your student ID number for all purchases in the cafeteria.  If you do not know this number, please reach out to a faculty member or a food service associate.

The National Honor Society is currently inviting eligible candidates to complete the selection process. If you are a junior or senior who has a cumulative, weighted GPA of 3.67, you should receive a letter in the mail notifying you of your candidacy. If you do not receive a letter but think you qualify, please see Mrs. Powell in Room 223. All eligible students should also attend the general body meeting on Wednesday, September 6th at 2:15pm in the cafeteria. Additional selection materials will be provided at that time.

Students who did not receive a locker slip during homeroom or who have problems with their locker should stop by the Main Office to see Mrs. Magistri in between classes before 11am.

Mrs. Barrett's Capstone Group will be meeting after school on Thursday, September 7th at 2:00pm in Room 126. See you there! Bring your signed Mentor Sheet and Project Proposal with you.

Attention seniors and juniors - several college visits to South Windsor High School are already booked and listed in Naviance.  Visits will start the week of September 11th.  Be sure to check out colleges you are interested in and sign up to meet with them while they are here.  This an excellent opportunity to learn about your options and make a great impression on the admissions representative who will likely read your application. See Mrs. Carty in the Career Center if you have any questions about this feature in Naviance or what to expect at a college visit.

The first meeting of South Windsor's Gay-Straight Alliance will be held on Monday, September 11th at 2:00 pm in Room 148.  Anyone interested in working to keep South Windsor a safe space for all individuals is invited to attend.   Past GSA members, especially leaders, need to check in with Mrs. Knapp as soon as possible if you have not already done so.  Anyone interested in working a table at the Activities Fair on Tuesday, September 5th, should see Ms. Knapp in Room 148 as soon as possible as well!

The UCONN Early College Experience Courses for this year are Latin IV, Environmental Science, Marine Science and AP Physics 1.  ECE is a program where students take UConn classes while at SWHS, and receive college credit good at UConn as well as most every other college in the country.  College Credit is only received if you sign up correctly.  The LATE Application deadline is September 15th, and the LATE Enrollment deadline is September 29th. There is an extra $25 fee during this time period.  Please see UConn’s website or Mr. Wry for more details.

Are you interested in a career in law?  Do you have a flair for the dramatic?  Mock Trial is seeking new members to participate in the statewide competition.  Please stop by room 157 and talk to Mr. Zeuschner about joining Mock Trial.  We are looking to improve on our quarter finals finish last year and need you!

Athletic News:
The South Windsor Dance Team is hosting their fall tryouts for anyone interested in joining our team this year. Even if you play a fall sport, you can still be a part of the team for the winter season. Just attend tryouts on September 6th from 3:15-5:00pm in the Rubber Room and have all necessary sports forms completed and turned in in order to tryout. Contact Coach Foley or any dance team member with questions.

Please note…student parking spots will open to juniors beginning Friday morning.  Juniors can drop applications in the Main Office; HOWEVER, we will only accept complete packets.  Most likely spots will sell out quickly, so be aware parking is available on a first come, first served basis for applications that are complete. The goal is to have the passes be available for pick-up in Room 237 beginning on Thursday, September 7th.
