News from the Café: As of Wednesday, April 25, any students with a negative balance from breakfast or lunch charges will no longer be able to purchase a la carte items in the cafeteria until the money owed is paid back. If you are not certain of the amount owed, please ask one of the cashiers in the cafeteria for help.

The National Honor Society is hosting an AP exam review on Tuesday, April 24 in the cafeteria. The subjects offered will be: biology, calculus, chemistry, computer science, government, physics, psychology, and US history. Bring your questions, and we hope to see you then.

Students attending the Ms. Lane's Clay Raku Field Trip on Monday are reminded to dress accordingly and be in Room 6 no later than 7:00am. See Ms. Lane with any questions.

Attention all graduating seniors - you're cordially invited to submit a poem to the Grad Poem Contest running now. Write an original poem fitting for the 2018 Graduation Ceremony to either Ms. White or Ms. Pieratti - Room 144 or 146 - by May 15. Getting writing, South!

Seniors – take note of the next round of scholarship deadlines coming up. Due next week are the Hartford Area Roller Derby Scholarship for female athletes attending a CT college or university and the Kline Family Community Service Scholarship for students who plan to attend UConn and have been very involved in service. Just added to Naviance is the South Windsor Soccer Club scholarship due May 31. See a complete list by logging into Naviance, clicking on the Colleges tab and scrolling down to Scholarship List.

It may barely feel like spring out, but it’s not too soon to think about summer plans. If you are looking for unique summer experiences to explore career options or preview college life, check out the Enrichment Programs section in the College Research area of your Naviance account. Thousands of programs can be researched. A smaller selection of brochures and materials are also available to check out or copy in the Career Center. 

The Connecticut Congressional Delegation hosts the 2018 Military Service Academy Night on Wednesday, April 25 at 6:00pm at the MG Maurice Rose Armed Forces Reserve Center in Middletown. All interested high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are invited to come learn about our nation’s military academies. An informational flyer is hanging on the Programs & Events board in the Career Center. You can also visit the website of any member of the Connecticut Congressional Delegation to find information about this event.
