This Day in History: 1990 - The space shuttle Discovery blasted off from Cape Canaveral, FL. It was carrying the $1.5 billion Hubble Space Telescope.

All SADD members planning on attending the field trip to St. Francis Hospital need to return their permission slips as soon as possible to Dr. Bombara in the School Counseling Office.

Attention Juniors! SADD will be sponsoring the Prom Promise again this year. Sign the promise to not drink and drive the entire prom weekend and enter a raffle to win two free tickets to the prom or a refund of the cost of two tickets if you have already purchased your tickets. SADD will be in the Café, all lunch waves on Wednesday and Thursday this week. So, stop by, make the pledge, and sign the Prom Promise Banner. Let’s make this years’ prom Spectacular!

Attention Seniors! The annual Senior Art Show will be happening at the South Windsor Public Library in May. If you have taken any art courses during your years at South Windsor High School this is a fantastic opportunity for you to display your artwork in this juried show. If you are interested in earning an honor cord in art, you will need to participate in the judged section of this Senior Art Show. Applications are due May 4th, see your art teacher for details and an application.

Attention all future UConn ECE students - The ECE Courses for next year are Latin IV, Environmental Science, Marine Science, AP Literature and Composition, Classical Mythology, Modern Western Traditions and AP Physics 1. ECE is a program where students take UConn classes while at SWHS, and receive college credit good at UConn as well as most every other college in the country. College Credit is only received if you sign up correctly. There will be a mandatory assembly during Late Arrival on Monday April 30th at 7:45am in the Auditorium. The Application deadline is June 1st, and the Enrollment deadline is June 30th. Please see Mr. Wry with any questions
 
Reminder for foodies…grab your culinary passports because our menu is taking us on a tour of Caribbean and African dishes. Bring $5 to Ms. Cliff and Sra. Ruiz--we cook on Wednesday.  
 
Don’t forget… NHS is hosting an AP exam review today in the cafeteria. The subjects offered will be: biology, calculus, chemistry, computer science, government, physics, psychology, and US history. Bring your questions, and we hope to see you.

There will be a meeting after school tomorrow in Room 166 for anyone interested in joining next year's Model UN leadership team or attending Harvard Model UN. Please see Ms. Simcik if you cannot attend.

The Relay for Life club will hold a brief but mandatory meeting after school on Wednesday, May 2 in room 143. We will be discussing event details and leadership opportunities for next year. Please see Mrs. Frasier with any questions.

The Girls Tennis team continues to defend their undefeated title after their win against Farmington yesterday with a score of 5-2. All 4 singles players Caitlin Sze, Varsha Rathore, Sophia Chin, Sam Donovan had a clean sweep. 1st doubles players Leah Polansky and Jia Yazon held strong, winning a tough match. This brings their record to 4-0. Next match is against RHAM tomorrow.

The Boys Volleyball team had another clean sweep last night at Home vs. Bulkeley. The JV won 2-0 improving their record to 7-0 and Varsity won 3-0 putting their current record at 6-1. The team will travel the next two days to face Farmington tomorrow and East Hartford on Thursday. Best of luck to the team and we hope to see you there!

Boys Tennis had a dominant win yesterday defeating Middletown 7-0!! Straight set wins went to all players: Brandon Sze, Ronnak Saxena, Parker Pacekonis and Abhiram Gunti all playing singles and Donny Sauer & Sam Kim, Elijah Wood & Jack Perry and Jason Richenbacher & Dan Zhu all playing doubles. The team is on a roll with a 3-1 record and are looking to add 3 more wins this week against Glastonbury, RHAM and Hall. The team's first home match is Tuesday against Glastonbury - Come cheer the team on and show your support!
