Important Junior Prom announcement: The Junior Prom will be held at The Farmington Marriott this Saturday, May 5. Since the prom is on a Saturday, SWHS will be adhering to the following procedure regarding attendance for all juniors and their guests. When a school event such as the Junior Prom occurs on a Saturday, SWHS students and SWHS guests must attend a minimum of five (5) full classes on the Friday before. Students who are absent from school on May 4 or who are dismissed from school for reason of illness may not participate in ANY school activities, including the prom, unless the student has relevant documentation and prior administrative approval.   

If you are a senior attending the senior outing to Holiday Hill and need to take the early bus, you must print and return the Early Bus Form to Miss Griswold in Room 227 no later than May 16. The early bus will leave at 2:30pm from the outing. The Early Bus Form can be found on the Class of 2018 website and Google Classroom page.

Springfield College is holding a Discovery Day on Monday, May 7 with tours offered at 11:00am and information sessions at 10:00am and noon. To register, visit springfield.edu/discoverydays.

The Barbara Rosenthal Summer Internship Program provides the opportunity for students from diverse and minority backgrounds to explore a career in law or a corporate environment. This 6 week paid internship runs from July 10 – August 16, requiring interns to work 20 hours in a Hartford law firm each week. Interested students with at least a 3.0 GPA can get an application from the Career Center. An essay, letters of recommendation and a transcript are required and are due by May 15.

The Spring Instrumental Concert will be Thursday, May 10 in the Auditorium. At 6:30pm, you can experience Video Games Live! with the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. At 8:00pm, the Orchestras will play music from Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, The Beatles, Pirates of the Caribbean, and more. Tickets are $5.00 per person. See you there.

Final reminder for seniors…the annual Senior Art Show will be happening at the South Windsor Public Library in May. Applications are due TOMORROW; see your art teacher for details and an application.

Athletic News:
- JV boys’ tennis won a great competitive match against Avon!! Winning for the Bobcats in straight sets were Jonathan Huot at #1 Singles, Neal Shah at #2 Singles and Sanjov Choksi at 3# Singles. Due to time constraints, we were unable to finish out all the doubles matches. Varsity has a home match today against Hall High School… come out and cheer on the team.

- The girls’ tennis team had an outstanding match yesterday against Bristol Eastern, winning 7-0. Double bagels came from 1st singles Caitlin Sze, 2nd singles Varsha Rathore, and 4th singles Sam Donovan. 3rd singles Sophia Chin and doubles, Jia Yazona and Leah Polansky, and Kelly Kozon and Rebecca Kenefick also played strong matches. Seniors Payal Shah and Julie Harper at third doubles had a tough match, but pulled through successfully. Their next match is Friday against Glastonbury, wish them luck.

- The boys’ volleyball team lost to a tough Lewis Mills team at Home last night. JV lost 2-0 and Varsity 3-2. The team is looking to bounce back tonight while home again vs. Enfield. Good luck to the team, and we hope you come and cheer on your fellow Bobcats.
