If you are looking for a part-time job or internship, come to the Career Center and check out a number of opportunities. Local businesses are looking for office workers, lifeguards, and academic instructors. Today’s featured position is an internship with the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce. This is an unpaid position that offers resume-building experience in marketing and events. For information on this and the other available positions, see the Programs & Events board in the Career Center.

Any students with locker problems should stop by the Main Office to notify us so we can help.

The cast of The Sound of Music will rehearse music today in Room 4 at 2:00pm. All nuns are called! Bring your music, a pencil, and your best energy. 

The National Honor Society is currently inviting eligible candidates to complete the selection process. If you are a junior or senior who has a cumulative, weighted GPA of 3.67, you should receive a letter in the mail notifying you of your candidacy. If you do not receive a letter but think you qualify, please see Miss. Griswold in Room 227. All eligible students should also attend the general body meeting on Wednesday, September 5 at 2:00pm in the cafeteria. Candidate packets and additional selection materials will be provided at that time. Please see Ms. Griswold in Room 227 if you cannot attend the meeting on Wednesday.

The UCONN Early College Experience Courses for this year are AP Lit, Modern Western Traditions, AP Econ, Classical Mythology, Latin IV, Environmental Science, Marine Science and AP Physics 1.  ECE is a program where students take UConn classes while at SWHS and receive college credit good at UConn as well as almost every other college in the country.  College Credit is only received if you sign up correctly. The LATE Application deadline is September 14, and the LATE Enrollment deadline is September 28. There is an extra $25 fee during this time period for all classes except AP Econ and Classical Mythology. Please see UConn’s website or Mr. Wry for more details.

Athletic News:
Attention members of the Girls Volleyball team. Your practice today is from 3:30-6:00pm. All 9 and 11 graders will meet near the athletic trainer's room by 2:15pm to take the Impact Test prior to changing for practice. All players not taking the impact test are expected to attend study hall from 2:10pm - 3:10pm prior to practice. Any questions, see Coach Holt.
