The John F. Kennedy Library is holding its annual “Profiles in Courage” Essay Contest with a range of prizes available to selected essays. Interested candidates will write a 700 – 1100 word essay that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in his book Profiles in Courage. For specific information and guidelines, visit www.jfklibrary.org/essaycontest or see the poster hanging outside the Career Center. All essays must be submitted by January 18. 

The Bobcat Bowling club is back! There will be a brief meeting after school on Tuesday, January 15 in room 168 for anyone interested in joining session 2 of the Bobcat Bowling Club. Applications will be available at the meeting.

Thank you to all who donated and volunteered to make Saturday’s Red Cross Blood Drive a great success. We collected 60 pints of blood which will help numerous people in need.

Students who took the ASVAB exam are invited to a test interpretation session on Tuesday, January 15 at noon in the Seminar Room. Students should see Dr. LaRochelle in School Counseling prior to this session.

On Thursday, January 10 at 6:00 pm, Conard High School will host the annual USA Gap Year Fair. The program will begin in the auditorium with a presentation about Gap Year programs by a Gap Year Coordinator and Alumni, and will be followed by the fair in the cafeteria. For students interested in applying for scholarships through the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, this is a reminder that the deadline for the biggest pool of scholarships is January 15. If you haven’t already started your application, please do so as soon as possible as it takes some time to complete. If you have any trouble accessing the application portal, come to the Career Center for support.

The next Italian Club meeting will be Monday, January 14 after school in room 226. We will be learning to play the Italian card game, Scopa, and having snacks. Please let Mrs. Zaccardelli know if you plan on coming.

Attention Bobcat Robotics: This is a reminder that we will be meeting both Wednesday, January 9 and Thursday, January 10 from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm. See you there!

Seniors: The link to sign up for Capstone presentations on the afternoon of January 17 is located on the Capstone Website. Please sign up by 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9. Also, be sure to have your adviser fill out and sign your check-in/check-out form so you have it for the day of presentations.

Athletic News:

There will be a meeting for all students interested in trying out for the Freshman, JV and Varsity baseball teams on Thursday, January 10 after school in room 161. Please see Mr. D’Amato with any questions.
