Prom ticket sales end TODAY, Friday, April 5.  You must have a guest form approved by administration and turned in to Mrs. Hasler in room 250 prior to purchasing a ticket for that guest.  Any tickets purchased for guests without approved guest forms will be refunded and those tickets will be available for purchase to anyone.  Please make sure you have these forms submitted prior to purchasing the ticket.  Also, tickets are NONTRANSFERRABLE and NONREFUNDABLE.  You cannot sell your tickets to someone else and tickets cannot be refunded so finalize your plans prior to purchasing your tickets.

Seniors:  There is a new group of scholarships with April deadlines waiting for you in Naviance including:
- The NEACAC scholarship.
- The ECHN scholarship for students pursuing health fields.
- The brand new William Perry scholarship exclusively for a South Windsor student who has achieved academic success while being a student leader.
- The JE Shepard award from the Jaycees for students who embody integrity and spirit in their community.  
- South Windsor Little League’s awards for students who are former players. For students who are applying to this scholarship – because the due date is next Friday, April 12, please return your applications to the Career Center following spring break on Monday, April 15.

Juniors: Are you interested in serving on the State of Connecticut Board of Education?  This highly coveted position would have you working with State of Connecticut political leaders in helping shape and develop educational policies and lend a student perspective to lawmakers.  These state level meetings take place one Wednesday a month in Hartford for the entire school day.  See Mr. Wry in Guidance if interested. 

The Science Fiction / Fantasy club will hold one meeting in April, which will be Monday, April 15, the day we return from April break.  Join us in room 127 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm to watch and discuss Maze Runner.

Bonjour!  French students, please attend with a parent, the French Exchange informational meeting, on Tuesday, April 16, in the Seminar Room at 6:00 pm. Please see Madame Rosano in room 235 with any questions!  Merci! 

Gateway Community College is having an Open House on Saturday, April 6 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  Tour facilities, meet professors, and learn all about academic opportunities and activities.  Visit gatewayct.edu for more information.

Following up their outstanding league season, the SWHS Math Team finished 2nd in the medium school division of the Connecticut State Meet.  Team members Aryan Kalia, Keshav Ramesh, Michael Ngo, Jaideep Naik, Pranav Ramesh, and Jason Rickenbacher turned in South Windsor's best performance in the meet.  In addition, Aryan, Keshav, Jaideep, Michael, and Pranav were all selected to the elite ARML team from Connecticut, consisting of the top 45 high school math students from across the state.  South Windsor had the most students selected from any school in the state.

This weekend Bobcat Robotics heads to Hartford for our second competition if you want to see the action live, join us at Hartford Public High school to cheer on Team 177 on Saturday and Sunday!  Then, next weekend the team heads to WPI to compete in the New England District Championship.  Best of luck to Bobcat Robotics as they take on the most competitive teams in the region this week!

The Career Center will host two college visits on the first day back from spring break so please take note now.  Merrimack College and Binghamton University will both be here on Monday, April 15.  If you are an applicant deciding on attending one of these schools or a future applicant who would like to know more about them, please sign up in Naviance and see Mrs. Carty for a pass.

Athletic News:

Dance Team try-outs will be held on Thursday, April 18 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the SWHS rubber room.

The Girls Tennis team had an amazing opening match against Rocky Hill. The team won 7-0, with forth singles Heather Kim having a great first match, and coming home with the team pet, Dwayne. First singles Caitlin Sze, and third singles Sam Donovan started the season off strong, and second singles Sophia Chin won her match with a double bagel.  First doubles Leah Polansky and Jia Yazon had a nice match, new players Caitlin Sauer and Jina Lee won with a double bagel, and Rebecca Kenefick and Ananya Srivatsav won with a French Fry. Come support the girls team at their next home match against Northwest Catholic on Monday, April 15!

The Boys Tennis team had their first victory of the season with a win over Newington.  Victorious for the Bobcats were Senior Ronnak Saxena at first singles, Elijah Wood at third singles and Rahul Mahesh at forth singles.  Also winning for the Bobcats were Sam Kim & Donny Sauer at first Doubles and Andris Reba & Dan Zhu at second Doubles.  Nice job to everyone!  Our next match is today against Tolland at home at 3:45 pm - please come out and support the team.

Varsity Girls lacrosse beat Berlin 14-4.  JV also defeated Berlin 6-3. The teams will take on Simsbury at home on April 17 at 4:00 pm on the turf.
