The Science Fiction/Fantasy club will hold its next meeting on Thursday, May 2 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm in room 127.  Join us to watch and discuss Stardust.

A new scholarship has just come in to the Career Center with a due date of April 30.  The Westinghouse Windsor Women in Nuclear Scholarship is for females planning to pursue STEM degrees.  Students must fill out an application and provide essays.  There are three scholarships ranging from $200 to $500.  The application is available in Naviance and remember – it is due next Tuesday!  Also, the William Perry and Marcella Masinda scholarships are available only to South Windsor High School students and have due dates coming up.  Get your applications in soon.

A representative from Northern Vermont University-Lyndon will be in the Career Center on Thursday at 11:45 am. Sign up and Naviance and see Mrs. Carty for a pass.

United Bank’s South Windsor High School branch is hiring for next school year.  If you would like a position that develops your banking and customer service skills, this is a great opportunity to work locally and gain professional experience.  Applicants must be 16 years old by August when the position starts.  Ideal candidates are current sophomores, but interested juniors are still encouraged to apply.  To see a flyer with contact information please visit the Career Center.

April is Autism Awareness month.  Please wear blue tomorrow, Thursday, April 25 and bring in $1 to donate to Autism Families Connecticut.

SADD Club will be selling purple ribbons today and Thursday during all lunch waves.  All funds will be donated to the “Bombara Strong” team for the walk to end Pancreatic Cancer.

Hi foodies!  For today's Cooking Club menu, you'll be making and enjoying: glazed ham with pineapple stuffing, vegetable penne, gourmet cheesy potatoes, carrot cake cupcakes, apple hand pies, and haystack nests.  Bring $5 (and your appetite) to room 105 after school today!  

There will be a brief Student Council meeting tomorrow, Thursday, April 25 after school in room 163.  All members should attend.

Day Pitney, a Hartford law firm, is offering a paid summer internship program for sophomore and junior students from minority backgrounds who are interested in gaining corporate or law experience.  Qualified and interested students can get more information and an application from the Career Center.

For students taking UConn ECE classes next year, there will be a mandatory application assembly on Monday, April 29 at 7:45 am in the Auditorium.  Next year’s ECE Courses are Marine Science, Environmental Science, AP Physics 1, Modern Western Traditions, AP Economics, Latin IV, Classical Mythology, and Seminar in Writing.  Please see your Counselor with any questions.

The Bobcat Prowl journalism staff has published their first magazine. The magazine highlights what was going on in our school during the winter months-including student features, sports highlights, and club showcases!  Stop by room 142 to grab your FREE copy or see a member of the Bobcat Prowl!  We're producing our second magazine NOW, so if you have any photos or stories you'd like included, see Ms. Dobosz.

If you're a senior, please consider submitting an original poem to the Grad Poem Contest.  Write a poem that you will be read at the Graduation Ceremony.  Please submit your work to Ms. Pieratti or Ms. White by Friday, May 10 for consideration of this great honor. 

Athletic News:

The Girls Track and Field faced Manchester yesterday.  Micaela Hanson won the 100 hurdles, Katelyn Maycomber won the high jump and the 4X100 team of Muneeka Munir, Erin Dunn, Candice Walsh and Missy Sullivan won.  In addition, Erin Dunn, Rihanna O'Meara, and Katelyn Maycomber qualified for states and many other athletes achieved personal bests.

Varsity Girls Lacrosse defeated hall 11-9 and JV won 7-6. They will take on Cheshire at home on Thursday.

The Girls’ Tennis team had an amazing match yesterday, beating Farmington 7-0.  Standout performances came from doubles Rebecca Kenefick and Ananya Srivatsav winning in a tie breaker. Singles players Heather Kim and Sophia Chin had close matches and came out with a win!  The girls’ tennis team continues to hold an undefeated record.
