Anyone interested in running for Student Council office should come to a meeting today, Thursday, May 2 in room 163 after school.  Ms. Ullinger will be talking about the election process.  

The Sci Fi / Fantasy club will hold its meeting today, Thursday, May 2 in room 127 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.  Join us to watch and discuss Stardust.

Interact Members: Don't forget that today is our May meeting.  We will begin at 2:05 pm in the Seminar Room. Please see Mrs. Howard in room 134 with any questions.

Any senior girls applying to the South Windsor Girls Travel Basketball scholarship need to hand their applications into the Career Center by the end of the school day on Friday, May 3.

Hey Bobcats! Come grab a smoothie bowl this Friday, May 3 at the local farmstand from 4:00 – 9:00 pm. There will be a bonfire, weather permitting!  Hope to see you there, come support the class of 2021.

The Junior Prom will be held at the Glastonbury Hills Country Club this Saturday, May 4 from 6:30 to 10:30 pm.  In order to attend school activities on a Saturday, including this weekend's prom, students must attend a minimum of five full classes on Friday.  Students who are absent on Friday (or who are dismissed from school due to illness) may not attend the dance unless they have prior administrative approval and relevant documentation.  Also any student who arrives to the prom after 7:00 pm will not be admitted.   

Want to have a fun afternoon with friends?  Come to the next Unity Club Meeting on Monday, May 6 in the School Counseling Career Center for some fun, games and snacks. 

Seniors: please consider submitting an original poem to the Grad Poem Contest.  Write a poem that you will be read at the Graduation Ceremony.  Please submit your work to Ms. Pieratti or Ms. White by Friday, May 10 for consideration of this great honor. 

The Handball Tournament, sponsored by FBLA, will be on May 10 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  Gather a group of friends and come on down!  The teams will consist of 6 people and the charge for each team member is $5.00. Each team will cost $30.00.  Prizes will be handed out for the 1st place team winners.  Sign-ups will be in the cafe during lunch next week.  Any questions see Mrs. Barrett.

If you are interested in hiking or camping with the Outing Club this spring, see Mrs. Lynch in room 254 or Ms. Andrews in room 234C for permission slips or questions.  The next hike is May 11. 

For those students who attended the UConn ECE Assembly in the Auditorium, but did not receive an ECE Application, please visit School Counseling, as they have received more from UConn.  The application due date is June 7.

A local medical office has an immediate opening for a student in the Class of 2020 to assist with administrative tasks.  The job offers after school and summer hours and is ideal for a motivated student who is interested in the health care field.  Please come to the Career Center for more information and details on how to apply.  There is a flyer posted on the job board.

Athletic News:

On Tuesday, Girl's Track and Field faced Tolland.  First place performances were had by Micaela Hanson in both hurdles, Erin Dunn in pole vault, and Katelyn Maycomber in high jump.  Some notable personal bests were had by Aicha Ly in discus, and Cora Brownbill, Abby Grohs and Jess Polito in the mile.

Any student interested in operating the score board in the press box at Rotary Field for the remaining home varsity baseball games should see Athletic Director, Mr. Sytulek.  Training will he provided to interested students.

Ronnak Saxena has been nominated as a finalist for the CT Varsity Athlete of the Week.  Please vote by Sunday, May 5 for Ronnak at: courant.com/ctvarsity.  Ronnak is a very deserving candidate and it would be great to have a South Windsor Boys Tennis Player selected!

The Girls’ Tennis team had an outstanding match against Bristol Eastern.  The team won 7-0, with singles players Caitlin Sze, Sophia Chin, Sam Donovan and doubles Leah Polansky and Jia Yazon all coming home with a double bagel!  The team is now 2nd in the state with a 7-0 record.
