To all students taking an UConn ECE course next year, the deadline to upload your parent consent form to UConn’s website is this Friday, June 7.  See your School Counselor with any questions.

Unified Theater will meet Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the auditorium for final rehearsals. The free performance is on Thursday, June 6.

The National Honor Society will be hosting a final exam review on Wednesday and Friday, June 5 and 7.  The review will take place right after school in the cafeteria.  Feel free to stop by if you have any questions.

Mind's Eye will host the last Coffee House of the year on Wednesday, June 5 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm in the library.  There will be an open mic to share your writing or music.  Snacks will be provided and all are welcome.

If you are taking AP Economics next year, please stop by after school on Wednesday, June 5 for a brief meeting in room 160 with Mr. Mabey to pick up your summer assignment.  If you cannot make it Wednesday after school - stop into room 160 before school anytime between 6:45 am and 7:20am on Thursday, June 6 or Friday, June 7. 

The FBLA handball tournament is this Thursday, June 6 in the gym from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.  See Mrs. Barrett with any questions. 

Also, the National Honor Society will be holding an AP book swap this week until Friday, June 7, every morning, right outside of the cafeteria.  They are collecting books, flash cards, and other review materials.  You may also pick up available materials for AP exams that you are taking next year. 

Student Council is hosting their second annual Flag Football Tournament on Thursday, June 6 at 3:30 pm.  Sign-ups are during lunch waves until today.  Cost is $10 per person.  Teams must be 7-10 players, 3 of which are girls. Top three in the tournament will receive large prizes.  The winning team will receive championship t-shirts. 

Art Club will have its final meeting of the year on Thursday, June 6 right after school in room 7.  We will continue to finish any artwork, discuss plans for next year and celebrate the completion of this year.

Seniors – are you excited about the next school you plan to attend and want to show it off?  Stop by the Career Center and look through some of the college gear that admissions representatives have left during their visits this year.  You may find a folder, hat, water bottle, banner, or bag with your future college’s name on it.  Mrs. Carty will happily gift items on a first come, first serve basis.

Students interested in STEM and engineering related fields can check out summer camps happening at UConn this summer.  The Explore Engineering, or E2, is for current sophomore or junior students and the SPARK program is for female students entering 7th through 10th grades and offers four different study options in STEM-related areas.  Flyers are hanging in the Career Center and both programs are listed in the Enrichment section in Naviance.  Application deadlines are coming up soon.

The Italian Club will have its final meeting of the year on Monday, June 10 right after school.  We will be playing bocce and eating pizza, a nice way to de-stress before finals.  Please bring $5 to Mrs. Zaccardelli in room 226.  All are welcome.

Attention all 1st Semester Art Students: If you have not already picked up your artwork that you either left in class, or was in an Art show, then please see your art teacher as soon as possible to collect your work.  Thank you.

Athletic News:

Athletic surveys for spring athletes will take place after school this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the cafeteria.  All spring athletes are encouraged to attend one of these 3 days to complete this survey.  The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and your input is valuable in improving our athletic programs here at SWHS.

If you are interested in playing Boys’ Soccer in the fall, please meet the coaches on Thursday, June 6 from 3:00 pm - 3:45 pm in room 102.  They will be there to talk about upcoming summer soccer, camps, conditioning and other soccer related news.  If you can’t make it, please contact Coach Lepak or Coach Kaufman.

Anyone interested in playing Girls' Soccer in the fall, please plan to meet after school on Thursday, June 6 from 2:10 pm to 2:40 pm in room 154.  If you cannot attend please see Coach Camire.

The Girls’ Tennis season came to an end in the quarter finals of the open tournament. Caitlin Sze, Sophia Chin, Leah Polansky, and Jia Yazon finished in the top 8 walking away with All-State titles.

Last Thursday, Girls' Track and Field qualifiers competed in the Class L Championship.  The girls had solid performances to finish their season and Rhianna O'Meara ran a new personal best of 2:28.05 in the 800.  Erin Dunn placed 4th in the Pole Vault, tying her previous personal best of 9'0", which qualified her for the State Open.  Yesterday at the State Open Erin Dunn ended her season with a new personal best of 9'6".   The Girls’ Track team will hold its banquet this Thursday, after putting away hurdles at 4:00 pm.  Remember to turn in uniforms and sign up for banquet items in room 129 by Wednesday.  Athletes should bring $5 to the banquet.
