Attention all Seniors: If you have not taken your senior portraits yet, we encourage you to sign up for the free session here at the high school on Thursday, September 19th. Contact G&B to set up your session. Your photo must be taken by G&B or else it will not be in the yearbook! For more information go to the yearbook website and don’t forget to buy your book now for only $55.

Attention all students who were ACTIVE members of the SADD Club last year: If you are interested in applying to be a leader within SADD for the 2019-20 school year, then you must attend a MANDATORY meeting on Wed., Sept., 18th at 7am in the Seminar Room. This meeting is required for students who are interested in learning more about our new and innovative leadership positions. Please see Mr. Peters in the School Counseling office or Mrs. Rafalowsky in Room 112 if you need more information about these exciting leadership opportunities.

The Peer Mental Health Educators will have a drop-in board game social open to all students during all lunch waves Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. Anyone who would like to attend during their lunch wave can go to either the Career Center or Library Media Center and enjoy a variety of games during their wave.

Several colleges are visiting the Career Center tomorrow. If you are interested in learning more about Hartwick College, Saint Anselm College, Merrimack College or Lesley University, check out their visit schedule in Naviance.

The Teens Against Poverty club had their first meeting Wednesday September 11th. For all of those who are still interested, but could not attend the meeting, please join the Google Classroom using code: glqjpu7. Also, if you are interested in becoming a Committee Leader for Teens Against Poverty, interviews will be held on Monday 9/16 or Wednesday 9/18.  Please sign up on the doc posted in the google classroom. If you cannot make these dates but are still interested in interviewing, please let the TAP board members know via Google Classroom.

Hey Bobcats!  Do you love food? Do you love to cook or bake? If you are interested in making hot eats and cool treats after school, you need to check out the Cooking Club. Africa is a huge and incredibly diverse continent but is frequently stereotyped as a monolith. If you've ever wanted to learn more about the various peoples, food, pop culture, and current life in different African countries, you have to check out the African American Culture Appreciation Club. Or perhaps you have first-hand experiences and connections with an African culture--we'd love to hear your perspective. All students are welcome and there will be snacks. Attention Juniors and Seniors in an UConn ECE course: if you have already attached your parental consent form to UConn’s website, please use your UConn NET ID in the UConn SAS system to enroll in your class(es). Your deadline is September 30th. For those who have not uploaded the parental consent form, you can still take part in this program for an extra $25 late fee. You have until September 16th to do so, and then you have until September 30th to use your NET ID in the UConn SAS system to enroll in your class(es). See Mr. Wry in Guidance with any questions. 

Do you want to volunteer in a river clean up this year? Do you want to spread environmental awareness to the community and local politicians? Everyone with any environmental knowledge, background, or interest is welcome to join Environmental club’s first meeting next Thursday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m. in room 206. The Future Health Professionals (formerly called HOSA) will be having an informational meeting of the year after school on Monday, September 23rd in Room 204. This club is for anyone interested in a career in the medical field or healthcare. We explore different fields and interests and have guest speakers come in to talk about their career experiences. The Common Ground Leadership Program is now accepting applications. Any students interested in improving leadership skills, community service and working on their college resume, should join the google classroom with code ujgro3c or see Mr. Orsini in room 229. The deadline for all applications is Friday, September 20th.

The first Student Council meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at 2:05 p.m. in room 166. All members and new students interested in joining are welcome. Please attend to learn more about our goals for this year.

The Ski and Snowboard club meeting will be held on Monday, September 23rd at 2:05 p.m. in room 152. Email Ms. Phillips for details if you cannot attend.

Attention anyone interested in reading, writing, and art: South Windsor's literary magazine, Mind's Eye, will be having its first meeting of the year this Thursday after school in Room 129. New members are welcome! 

Athletic News:

Karly Suppicich and Lindsay Fishman, recently voted Co Captains of the Girls' Varsity Soccer team for the 2019 Season, led the Bobcats to a 4 to 0 win over Bloomfield on Friday. Suppicich netted two and added an assist, while Fishman scored her first of the young Season. Emma Smith's goal goes as the game winner while Jordan Roberts and Candace Walsh added to the score sheet with helpers of their own. Caitlin Sauer rounded out the scoring with the assist on the days final tally. Maddie Westfall anchored the D for 80 minutes and Maria Galley had 2 saves to notch her 8th career shutout. The Bobcats travel to West Hartford on Tuesday to take on Conard.
