Attention all students who were ACTIVE members of the SADD Club last year: If you are interested in applying to be a leader within SADD for the 2019-20 school year, then you must attend a MANDATORY meeting on Wed., Sept., 18th at 7:00 a.m. in the Seminar Room. This meeting is required for students who are interested in learning more about our new and innovative leadership positions. Please see Mr. Peters in the School Counseling office or Mrs. Rafalowsky in Room 112 if you need more information about these exciting leadership opportunities.

FBLA will be having a meeting in room 122B at 2:00 p.m. this Thursday, September 19th. We will be having our Induction Ceremony and getting our year started.

The first Japanese Anime Club Meeting is this Thursday, September 19th in room 230 immediately after school. Use the google classroom code l69203 to join. (the first letter is a lower case l as in leader)

Are you interested in economics or finance? Do you see yourself working for the International Monetary Fund, Federal Reserve, or Goldman Sachs one day? Join the Economics Club. Throughout the year we will compete in multiple economics competitions, including ones held by Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. Our first meeting for both new members and the leadership team will be held after school on Thursday, September 19th, in Room 163 in the social studies hallway from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Richards for more information. The Peer Mental Health Educators will have a drop-in board game social open to all students during all lunch waves Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.  Anyone who would like to attend during their lunch wave can go to either the Career Center or Library Media Center and enjoy a variety of games during their wave.

The Teens Against Poverty club had their first meeting Wednesday September 11th. For all of those who are still interested, but could not attend the meeting, please join the Google Classroom using code: glqjpu7.

Also, if you are interested in becoming a Committee Leader for Teens Against Poverty, interviews will be held on Monday 9/16 or Wednesday 9/18.  Please sign up on the doc posted in the google classroom. If you cannot make these dates but are still interested in interviewing, please let the TAP board members know via Google Classroom.

There are several colleges visiting the Career Center today. George Washington University will visit tomorrow at 11:45 a.m. Continue to check Naviance for college visits and sign up to attend.

If you were not able to attend the College Application Workshop on Monday afternoon, you will have another opportunity this Thursday, September 19th after school until 3:00 p.m. Come to the Career Center for help on your CommonApp, College Essay or any part of the application process.

Are you interested in helping to make the school a more welcoming place for everyone? Come visit room 131 for the first BRIDGES club meeting THIS WEDNESDAY after school, and learn how you can make a difference.

The Common Ground Leadership Program is now accepting applications. Any students interested in improving leadership skills, community service and working on their college resume, should join the google classroom with code ujgro3c or see Mr. Orsini in room 229. The deadline for all applications is Friday, September 20th.

Hey Bobcats!  Do you love food? Do you love to cook or bake? If you are interested in making hot eats and cool treats after school, you need to check out the Cooking Club. The Future Health Professionals (formerly called HOSA) will be having an informational meeting of the year after school on Monday, September 23rd in Room 204. This club is for anyone interested in a career in the medical field or healthcare. We explore different fields and interests and have guest speakers come in to talk about their career experiences. Do you want to volunteer in a river clean up this year? Do you want to spread environmental awareness to the community and local politicians? Everyone with any environmental knowledge, background, or interest is welcome to join Environmental club’s first meeting next Thursday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m. in room 206. FCCLA is for you if one of the following applies: You love to cook. You love to bake. You love to sew. You love to design clothing. You love working with children. You are a leader. For Grade 11 and 12 students who have successfully applied to the UConn ECE program, the enrollment deadline is Sept. 30th at 5pm.  Enrolling means to use your Net ID in the SAS system to pick your course.  If you have any questions, or need help, please see Mr. Wry in Guidance.

The Teen Center will be hosting its annual “Pizza, Prizes & Giveaways” back to school event this Thursday, September 19 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. This is a free event! Stop by for some food, hang out with friends and see the teen center space. No RSVP needed.
