Today marks the start of Computer Science Education week! Did you know that the first computer programmer was Ada Lovelace? She was an English mathematician and writer, primarily known for her work on Charles Babbage's proposed mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. In 1843, Ada published the first algorithm intended to be carried out by such a machine.

The South Windsor Sophomore Class of 2022 is selling maroon and gold bracelets next week during all lunch waves. They cost $6 and there is a limited supply, so make sure that you buy them fast.

Mind's Eye will be hosting a Holiday Coffee House this Wednesday, December 11th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Seminar Room. Join us for a night of poetry, music, and more! Refreshments will be available for a suggested $1 donation. Hope to see you there!

Juniors who are thinking ahead to college - the Coolidge Scholarship is now open for application. This full-ride scholarship is a highly competitive program for students who have achieved academic excellence, have an interest in public policy, and have an appreciation for the values championed by President Calvin Coolidge. Information and a link to the website can be found in the Scholarship list in Naviance, or students may to go www.coolidgescholars.org. The application deadline is January 16th.  

FCCLA is holding a toy drive to help surrounding communities in need. Please bring in new, unwrapped toys and put them in the boxes in the lobby and cafeteria hallway by Tuesday, December 10th.

There is a fiber drive being held through December! Please bring in any old socks, shirts, or clothing with holes in them that can no longer be worn, and drop them off in the box outside the cafeteria or office. This is a great way to recycle fibers and help the environment.

What if you could help others by eating pizza? Well now you can. Come support FCCLA by going to a local pizza company in Evergreen Walk on January 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All proceeds will support local charities and community service projects.

The next Italian Club meeting will be Monday, December 16th right after school in room 105. We'll be making various pasta dishes, appetizers, salad, garlic bread, and dessert. Space is limited so bring $5 to Mrs. Zaccardelli in room 226 to save a spot.  

Having trouble in one of your classes? National Honor Society students are here to help! They offer free tutoring in any subject with flexible hours. To request a tutor, go to the NHS website on the Clubs and Activities page and fill out the Google Form.
