The following colleges or universities will host virtual visits for SWHS students this week: Emmanuel College, Marist College, Stonehill College, Clarkson University, Johnson & Wales University, Utica College, Keene State College, Gettysburg College. All visits are listed in Naviance and students need to register to receive the link for the visit. It is best to enter these meetings with your camera on and your microphone muted. Please e-mail Mrs. Carty in the Career Center if you have any questions.

Delta Theta Sigma sorority will host a four day virtual fair to help students explore HBCUs and other college options and talk about how to prepare for the application process. Topics such as whether to stay in state, go to a community college first, and whether to spend more for your dream school or choose a school that makes financial sense will be covered. These questions and more will be explored during this Virtual College Fair Experience. The series takes place October 5-8. Registration is FREE. The National Honor Society is currently inviting eligible candidates to complete the selection process. If you are a junior or senior who has a cumulative, weighted GPA of at least 3.67, you should receive a letter in the mail this week notifying you of your candidacy. If you do not receive a letter but think you qualify, please see Mrs. Farrell in the Math Office. All eligible students should also attend the meeting on Thursday, October 8th: 2:30-3:00 p.m. for students with last names A-K, and 3:00-3:30 p.m. with last names L-Z. Details on the selection process will be provided at that time.

Hello Class of 2021, the first wave of Capstone presentations is fast approaching. One change this year is that all presentations will be virtual utilizing Google Meet. The first wave of presentations will be on Wednesday, October 21st. To be eligible to present you must have all written work turned in to your advisor's Google Classroom by Wednesday, October 7th and each piece of written work must have received a score of successful or highly successful. To sign up to present please go to the Capstone website and fill out the Google form. You have until Tuesday, October 13th at 2:00 p.m. to complete the Google form.  

Virtual Capstone Workshops offered October 14th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. To ensure you are successful with your Capstone project we are hosting virtual Capstone workshops utilizing Google Meets. These three workshops are designed to assist you at all stages of the process. The links for the workshops will be posted on the Capstone website. You may drop in at any time between 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for assistance. 
The three workshops available are:
 - Getting started - if you have not started your Capstone and need help coming up with ideas or filling out the proposal.
 - Work in progress - you have started a project and completed some of the work, but still have questions.
 - Preparing to present - you have completed the written work and want some helpful tips on successfully presenting your project.

ATHLETIC NEWS:

The South Windsor/East Catholic/Glastonbury Girls’ Co-Op Ice Hockey coaching staff will conduct a prospective player Zoom Meeting on Wednesday, October 7th at 7:00 p.m. This is a mandatory informational meeting for all freshman and other prospective student-athletes who were not on the team last year, but are interested in playing Girls’ Ice Hockey in 2020-21. Returning players should not attend this meeting. In order to register for this meeting, interested student-athletes should contact Coach Usseglio at [email protected]. If anyone cannot make the meeting, they should email Coach Usseglio.
