We will have our first Italian Club meeting on Tuesday, October 13th from 2:30-3:30 p.m. It will be an organizational meeting and be held via google meet. We will be discussing what we'd like to do for the rest of the meetings this year as well as officers for the club. If you still have not joined our Google Classroom, please do so as soon as possible. All are welcome and the classroom code is: kokgmma 

On Wednesday, October 14th, 10th and 11th grade students will participate in PSAT testing. Please come to school with a pencil and a calculator. Room assignments have been emailed to students and families. Please arrive at 7:15 a.m., you will be dismissed at approximately 11:30 a.m. 9th grade students will participate in on-going distance learning from home. Seniors will be able to attend the virtual capstone workshop from home. Only 10th and 11th graders will report to school. See your school counselor with questions. 

The Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Club is BACK!! Do you want to be a part of a group that shares important info about drug/alcohol prevention, gets involved in community outreach and creates positive school climate initiatives? Then join the virtual club! The classroom code is nbhjryb. If you are a returning member and have been in the club for at least 2 years, check out the leadership opportunities. Applications for leadership positions are due by Wednesday, October 14th. Questions? Check in with Mrs. Rafalowsky, Mr. Peters or Mrs. Reed.

Do you enjoy reading, watching, or writing Science Fiction or Fantasy stories? Then join the Science Fiction/Fantasy club. Our next virtual meeting will be Thursday, October 15th at 2:30 p.m. We will be watching and discussing Artemis Fowl. Use the code 25d3k2e to join the google classroom.  

The SW Teen Center is open to high school students on Monday and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Walk across the street to the teen center to unwind, have a snack, or catch up on school work! This will be based on cohorts so we can follow the same protocol as the high school.  Space is limited, so if you are interested in reserving a spot please email or call Danielle at the Teen Center at [email protected] or 860-648-3315. The Teen Center will also be utilizing our Twitter and Remind account for information on programs and reminders for events. Follow us to stay in the loop! Bobcat foodies: The first Virtual Cooking Club planning meeting will be on Thursday, October 15th at 2:30 p.m. If you have any questions please see Ms. Cliff in room 133 or Sra. Ruiz in room 233.

Rho Kappa: The National Social Studies Honor Society is currently inviting eligible applicants to apply for this opportunity. The application form will be posted and shared by your Social Studies teachers in google classroom. Additional information can be found on the application. If you are interested, but not currently in a Social Studies class please email Mrs. Slogesky, [email protected]. The deadline for the application is Friday, October 16th.

Need help with a class? Request a FREE NHS tutor to work with you over Google Meet. To sign up, go to the NHS website on the Clubs and Activities page and complete the Google form.

Hello Class of 2021!  The first wave of Capstone presentations is fast approaching. One change this year is that all presentations will be virtual utilizing Google Meet. The first wave of presentations will be on Wednesday, October 21st. To be eligible to present you must have all written work turned in to your advisor's Google Classroom by Wednesday, October 7th and each piece of written work must have received a score of successful or highly successful. To sign up to present please go to the Capstone website and fill out the Google form. You have until Tuesday, October 13th at 2:00 p.m. to complete the Google form.  

Virtual Capstone Workshops offered October 14th from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. To ensure you are successful with your Capstone project we are hosting virtual Capstone workshops utilizing Google Meets. These three workshops are designed to assist you at all stages of the process. The links for the workshops will be posted on the Capstone website. You may drop in at any time between 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for assistance. 
The three workshops available are:
-Getting started: If you have not started your Capstone and need help coming up with ideas or filling out the proposal.
-Work in progress: You have started a project and completed some of the work, but still have questions.
-Preparing to present: You have completed the written work and want some helpful tips on successfully presenting your project.

Attention Sophomores: “HOBY”, the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Organization is a nationally recognized group dedicated to developing leaders through national conferences and training.  Any Sophomore interested in applying to attend the Hugh O’Brien Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar taking place in the spring are invited to reach out to Mrs. Carty in the Career Center for either an application or more details.

And last but not least… 
ALL South Windsor students are now eligible to receive a free breakfast and a free lunch provided by the school district. Please stop by the cafeteria on your way into school for your complimentary breakfast and then at lunchtime, stop by your designated serving area to choose your complimentary meal. For distance or hybrid at-home learners, Grab & Go meals are available by the rear entrance of the school near the football field Monday to Friday between 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
