Today for Black History Month, we highlight an important artist from CT, Marian Anderson. Marian Anderson, from Danbury, Connecticut became one of the most famous opera singers of the 20th century. She was the first African American to perform with the Metropolitan Opera, and her Easter Sunday concert in 1939, before 75,000 people at the Lincoln Memorial, was hailed as a defining moment in the history of civil rights in the United States. 

The Freshmen Class of 2024 is having a fundraiser at a local frozen yogurt place at The Plaza at Buckland Hills on Thursday, February 18th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Take a selfie when you are there and we will post you in our showcase! Mention SWHS Freshmen Class of 2024 and they will donate 20% back to us! Thank you!

To raise funding for the kids, SWFTK has a prize calendar for the month of February. For each $5 donation, you will be entered in the drawing for each prize in that week. Need help with a class? NHS members are offering free tutoring in any subject over Google Meet. To sign up, go to the Clubs and Activities page and click on the link for the National Honor Society and complete the Google form. See Mrs. Farrell with any questions.

The South Windsor Teen Center will host a Virtual Paint Night on Tuesday, March 16th from 6:30-7:30pm. Lindsey’s Craft Studio will be leading participants through the creation of a dot mandala painting. This event costs $5 but will go towards a painting kit filled with the supplies needed to create your masterpiece. Seniors: The timeline to apply for Dollars Scholars is at the halfway point and the application portal will close in just one month! If you have not started your application, now is the time to do so as there are several steps to completing the process. If you have started your application, this is a great time to finish up any essays you need to write and get your final application submitted.
