SCHOOL NEWS:

Students: The library media center will close at 2:00 on Thursday, Nov. 2nd, and all day on Friday, Nov 3rd. Please plan accordingly.

If you are interested in saving lives, please consider signing up for South Windsor High School’s fall blood drive being held this Friday, Nov 3rd, during school. We are in a national blood shortage, so every donation counts. To sign up, scan the QR code on the posters around school, or through the volunteers that are available during all lunch waves this week. We will also take walk-ins on Friday. You must be 17 or older, or 16 years old with a parent permission form to donate. See Ms. Karasinski in Room 207 for more information.

Attention all SWHS students! November 13th is World Kindness Day. To help celebrate, the Interact Club will have "Kindness Communication" slips available during all four lunch waves this Friday, November 3rd. During each lunch wave Interact officers and volunteers will be circulating the crowd to collect any kind words you may have for your friends and/or SWHS faculty! The "kindness communication" slips will then be delivered to homeroom teachers for distribution on Friday November 10th. Let's all help brighten someone's day and spread some kindness

The Jump Start Program is back! If you are looking for a way to give back to our community and you have excellent communication skills, then this may be the opportunity for you! Jump Start volunteers visit TEMS once a week after school to help a middle school student with their homework and class projects.  Join the Jump Start classroom with code 5n2dvtt for more information and to fill out the application form. All applications are due by Friday, November 10th. Please reach out to Mrs. Reed @ [email protected] with questions.

Mind's Eye, our school's literary magazine, will host a Coffee House on Friday, November 3rd from 6-8pm in the school library. This is an open mic night to share your art, music, and writing! All are welcome, and snacks will be provided.

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:

Did you know that the most requested item in homeless shelters is SOCKS? The SADD Club will be hosting a sock drive from November 1st – 22nd , with donation bins in front of the high school cafeteria and also at the annex. We encourage all students and staff to bring in any kind of NEW SOCKS! Ask a member of the club, or see the SADD Instagram for more information. Together, let’s “SOCK IT TO THE COLD”!
