Congratulations to Lauren Crusha and May Harding for winning Gold Key Awards in the Scholastic Art Contest. Lauren's pendant and May's clay coffee set will be exhibited at the University of Hartford until February 3.   

Former South Windsor High School student Mary-Kate Harper will be in the Career Center at 10:30am this morning to talk about her experience as a student at Emmanuel College.  If you are a recent applicant, this is a great opportunity to hear directly from someone who has transitioned from your high school to Emmanuel.

Scholarships are updated in Naviance daily.  There are upcoming deadlines for the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Program and the Big Y scholarship. Female students should look at the Julie Veilleux Scholarship and students pursuing careers in science, medicine, nursing or health should review the Joyce Picard Scholarship. Both of these $1,000 awards are specifically for students residing in South Windsor and are due by February 16.

Girls for Technology presents a Stem Career Accelerator Day on January 27 from 10am – 1pm at the Wilson-Gray YMCA in Hartford. This event is for students in grades 9 to 11. Attendees will learn more about careers in science and IT and will learn how to designing an app, create a business around it and pitch an idea. Lunch is provided. An informational flier with registration information is on the Programs and Events board in the Career Center.

The National Honor Society is sponsoring TWO midterm review sessions for freshman students on Wednesday, January 17 and Thursday, January 18 from 2:00pm – 3:00pm in the cafeteria. Upperclassmen will be available to help students in all subjects and snacks will be provided. Please bring your study guides.

Athletic News:
-There will be a meeting for any girls interested in trying out for Girls Lacrosse after school today in Room 142. Please see Coach Dobosz if you cannot attend. 

- The girls’ JV basketball team was victorious over Holyoke 40 to 26. Jazz Ramirez led all scorers with 11 points while Elizabeth Martinez and Anastasia Assenso combined for 13 points. The defense was sparked by Julie Brady.
