February is Black History Month. Today, Rho Kappa, the National Social Studies Honor Society honors: Barbara Harris.  Barbara Harris was the first woman to serve as a bishop in an Anglican church anywhere in the world. She was a corporate public relations executive before studying for the ministry, and was outspoken on issues of race and gender in church.

Reminder…the Teen Center is closed today.  

Meetings today:
Gay-Straight Alliance meets today after school in Room 148.  
French Exchange student-hosts are required to meet today at 2:05pm in Room 228.   
The RACE committee meets today after school in the Media Center project space. 
Yoga club will meets today at 2:15pm in the Chorus Room.

Attention all students who were signed up to take the American Mathematics Contest: There are currently plans to make up the AMC 10 and 12 during school hours later this month; the date of the makeup will be forthcoming. However, the results of this makeup date will be unofficial, and will not allow students to qualify for awards or for the American Invitational Math Exam. For students that want a chance to get an official score in order to qualify, an alternate version of the contest will be offered during our winter break on Thursday, February 15 at 8:00am at SWHS. If you were originally signed up for the AMC and would like to take this alternate version, you must see Mr. Brindisi in Room 265 or email him by no later than TOMORROW in order to secure a spot and get important information.

Athletic News:
-Attention spring athletes: This is just a reminder that you need to sign up online by March 5th in order to be eligible for the first day of tryouts. If you played a previous sport this year, stop by the Main Office to move your sports forms forward and to drop off your check for your spring sport. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Jelly in the Main Office. 

-Don’t forget to come out and support the basketball team tomorrow. Student Council is running a Canned Food Drive. Students bringing in two canned goods will be admitted to the game for free; adults with four canned goods will be admitted for free. Hope to see you there.
