March is Women’s History Month. Today we honor: Bessie Coleman. Bessie Coleman was the world’s first licensed black aviator, making her a pioneer as both an African-American and a woman. After failing to find anyone in the United States who would teach aviation to a black woman, she moved to Paris, where she received her pilot’s license, and begun her career as a stunt pilot.

The Dollars for Scholars representative is here today starting at 10:00am in School Counseling. She will be here all day and after school for a bit to help any seniors finishing up their applications. Take advantage of this helpful opportunity.

SAT prep class make up for Wednesday will be today Friday, March 9 in the Seminar Room from 2:30pm - 4:45pm and SAT prep class make up for Thursday will be Friday March 16 in the Seminar Room from 2:30pm - 4:45pm. 

The CT State Board of Education has opened their search for two new 2018-19 Student Board Members. Students, appointed by the governor, will serve from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. Any junior interested in applying should look for additional information and the posting in the Career Center. Completed applications must be postmarked on or before April 13.

Attention to all students who drive to school: Only students with a parking pass may park in the main high school parking lot. All other drivers must park at Duprey. Students are not permitted to park at Wapping or the Community Center.

Attention Juniors: If you have not turned in a signed Capstone adviser contract, please do so by the end of TODAY. If you do not get your signed adviser contract in to Mr. Richards in Room 163, you will be assigned an adviser. 

Attention all Relay for Life members: there will be a club meeting directly after school on Monday, March 12 in Room 143. We will be discussing the upcoming March fundraiser as well a future events. Please see Mrs. Frasier in Room 143 with any questions.

Attention Sophomores and Juniors….the Capital Region Education Council (CREC) is looking for students interested in their CRILA leadership academy. This prestigious academy meets monthly throughout the 2018-19 school year and its purpose is to train students towards becoming more effective leaders through various trainings and exercises. In addition, there is a 7 day camping trip in Maine this June for those accepted. If interested in applying or getting more details, please visit Mr. Wry in School Counseling. 

Athletic News:
All girls who signed up for Track and Field must attend a mandatory meeting next Monday, March 12 in the cafeteria after school.  If you have questions or are unable to attend the meeting please see Coach McCullough in Room 127.
