2020 Patriotic Commission Essay Contest

In connection with the Memorial Day commemoration activities to be held on Monday, May 25, 2020, the South Windsor Patriotic Commission is pleased to announce its annual essay contest for students in grades K-12. The contest is open to any South Windsor resident who is a student anywhere in grades K-12.

The contest features essay topics for three different grade levels, and posters for students in K-2:

Grades K-2 POSTER - Create a patriotic poster in red, white and blue (maximum size 12” x 14”; written notes are not required and will not count toward judging) 
Grades 3-5 ESSAY - My favorite Connecticut patriot and why (300 words or less)
Grades 6-8 ESSAY - What it means to be a citizen of the United States (350 words or less) 
Grades 9-12 ESSAY - An American patriot who inspires me and why (500 words or less)


All entries must be received by the Patriotic Commission no later than Friday, February 28, 2020. The entry form and additional details are included on the attached flyer.
