As the nation returns to holiday celebrations with family and friends this year, the American Red Cross faces historically low blood supply levels not seen in more than a decade. While people gather this holiday season, the Red Cross urges eligible donors to take time out to give blood or platelets for patients in need. The SWHS HOPE Club is proud to present our Winter Blood Drive here at the school on Saturday, January 8th from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Please consider contributing to this great cause by signing up to donate at the link here: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=swhs20, or by visiting RedCrossBlood.org and entering swhs20 to schedule an appointment. Your contribution will go a long way towards helping someone who is in need of a donation, so let's roll up our sleeves and donate today!

It’s Computer Science Education week! Today we celebrate the life and achievements of Alan Turing, an English mathematician, computer scientist, and the person largely responsible for modern digital computers. He developed the first digital computer, known then as a "Turing Machine" to break German Nazi codes during World War II and went on to study theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence, and computational biology. Sadly, Turing was persecuted by the British government for being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, threatened with jail time for being gay, stripped of his security clearance, and subsequently surveilled as a danger to national interests. Tragically, Alan Turing died at the age of 42, but his legacy has continued to impact our society for decades.
