SCHOOL NEWS

November 11th marks Veterans Day. Veterans Day occurs every year in the United States in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I, known as Armistice Day. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. We take this opportunity each year to thank and honor those that have served our country. This year students will be viewing a virtual Veterans Day ceremony in all Social Studies classes on Thursday, November 11th. Additionally, we have been able to record new interviews with Veterans in our community, representatives from the Patriotic Commission and American Legion. These stories will be shared with students in Social Studies classes, as well as other opportunities to learn about Veterans Day and the service and sacrifice of Veterans. Thank you to all Veterans for their service and sacrifice!

A big thank you to all the staff and students who came out to support our fall blood drive. We collected over 40 units of blood, which will be able to help more than 120 people who may need blood transfusions. Another thank you to all the teachers who were accommodating of students coming in and out after donating blood. It was great to see such overwhelming support, and we hope you all stay tuned for our next blood drive on Saturday, January 8th!
