The Teen Center is open across the street inside the Community Center. High school students can join us after school on Monday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2 to 4:30 p.m.. The Teen Center offers a safe, comfortable space for students to relax with our staff and friends, play games, do crafts and enjoy snacks. Stop by to meet our staff and check out the space!
Attention Seniors who speak a language at home - If you are interested in testing for the Seal of Biliteracy, email Mrs. Stoj by Friday, February 3rd, with your name and the language you want to test in. Testing will be held after early release on Monday, February 27th.
The South Windsor Patriotic Commission has announced their annual essay contest. The contest features essay topics for different grade levels. All entries must be received by the Patriotic Commission no later than March 3, 2023. Prizes are awarded for the winner of each grade level band. The South Windsor Dollars for Scholars Scholarship Program will open its application portal on Saturday, January 21st. This is an excellent opportunity for SWHS 12th graders who plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university after graduation. Students can access the scholarship portal at www.southwindsor.dollarsforscholars.org where they will set up an account and complete a number of application components. This one application includes approximately 50 scholarships offered only to those who live or attend school in South Windsor. Awards are based on a variety of criteria so all college-bound 12th grade students are eligible and encouraged to apply. The portal will close on March 15th with no exceptions so do not delay in starting your application. Follow the directions closely and come to the Career Center or School Counseling with any questions you may have.

You can receive assistance in your studies from qualified NHS tutors ready to help you with any subject, and free snacks will be provided.

These opportunities include interactive virtual field trips for students (requiring NO PREP from teachers!), and live virtual PD for teachers. The next round of Capstone presentations will be held on January 24th and 25th (midterm week). In order to present, the following criteria must be met:
All written work must be submitted to your adviser by January 18th;
All written work must be scored by your advisor with at least a “successful” on every component;
You will sign up to present on the Capstone Website via a Google form.
Presentation times and locations will be posted to the Capstone website approximately 3 days before the presentation.
After the January wave, any remaining Seniors who have not completed Capstone may be reassigned to a structured study hall to work on their project. Structured study halls may be scheduled during any study hall periods including late arrival or early release periods.

SCHOOL NEWS:
The Class of 2026 is hosting a fundraiser at a local chicken restaurant at 1428 Pleasant Valley Road from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18th.
The South Windsor High School Science Olympiad team headed to Columbia High School near Albany NY to gain experience against some very competitive teams and had fantastic results. The team came home with 15 medals. Mehana Nagarur and Ria Shah placed second in Astronomy, 3rd place medals were won by Pranav Shankar and Yunfei Zheng in Fermi Questions, Kate Luci and Michael Pancras in Rocks and Minerals, Nandy Senthikumar and Jerome Arunkumar in Dynamic Planet. Grace Smith and Ria Shah also won medals in two of their events. Overall the performance of these Science Olympians was an excellent representation of our Bobcat Nation.
Calling all Pizza lovers- The Class of 2025 is hosting a fundraiser at a local pizzeria located at 221 Buckland Hills Drive on 1/11/23 from 11 a.m to 10 p.m.
