SCHOOL NEWS: 
 
Any student with a locker at SWHS must clean out their locker by the afternoon of Tuesday June 14th. Please remove the lock and completely empty the locker. After June 14th all locker contents will be removed and discarded. Garbage bins will be placed at the ends of the hallways on Monday. Please see Mrs. Harlow if you have any questions. 
 
Any student taking AP/UCONN Economics next year must stop by Room 160 before 
school (6:40am - 7:20am) to pick up Summer assignments from Mr. Mabey.

New jobs are posted in the Career Center for Summer employment! A local landscaper is hiring students who are at least 16 years old, and for students who are at least 14 years old a local farm will hire younger kids for harvesting in August. Come check out the flyers and find out how to apply!

Attention Seniors planning to attend Manchester Community College next year: Please stop by the Career Center to pick up a college pennant from MCC to celebrate your decision and your next step toward your future!
 
Students interested in working for 4th R next year can pick up an application in the Career Center. Most hiring for next year’s program will happen over the Summer so now is the time to apply! The program runs every day after school at Elementary schools around South Windsor. The hours are from 2:45-6:00pm each day and the pay is $15 per hour.

FBLA will host their Annual FBLA 3v3 Basketball Tournament on Friday, June 10th from 2 to 4 pm. There will be prizes, snacks, and water. If you would like to play, please fill out a form next to Mrs. Barrett's door in room 122A. It is $5 a person and 3 people per team. See Mrs. Barrett with any questions.
 
Looking for something fun to do Friday night? Do you enjoy being entertained? Come to SWHS Got Talent! The school talent show is this Friday, June 10th at 6 pm. All proceeds benefit the Jordan Porco Foundation, which aims to improve mental health for young people. Tickets are on sale now at lunch for $5 and will be sold at the door for $8. We hope to see you there!

The National Honors Society is holding an AP Book Swap through the month of June. Bring your old review books from classes and take ones that you need. There will be a cart in the back of the  library during the month of June where you can drop off and take books. The books must be owned by you and not loaned from the school.

If you like composing short stories, poems, journal entries, or forms of writing, please join us! See Mrs. Frasier with any questions.

ATHLETICS:

Congratulations to Susan Otaluka, Candace Walsh, Audrey Manning, Sidney Montana, Valerie Turgeon and Maddie Hathorn, who qualified to compete in the L class meet for Track and Field. The 4x100 team took 7th place, Susan Otaluka placed 7th in the 200 and Audrey Manning placed 8th in the 100.

SWHS Got Talent is coming! Looking for something fun to do? Come to SWHS Got Talent June 10th at 6 pm. Tickets are on sale now during all lunch waves for $5. Tickets will be $8 at the door, so buy ahead of time to save. All proceeds benefit the Jordan Porco foundation, a local charity that works to improve the mental health of young adults! 
 
The 9th Grade Class of 2025 is having a fundraiser at a local BAKERY AND SANDWICH SHOP at 100 Hemlock Avenue, South Windsor on Wednesday, June 8th from 4 to 8pm. Please come by and support your 9th Grade Class!  See you there!

On June 10th, SWHS will be putting on its very own talent show!  Tickets will be sold during lunch waves and at the door.  Concessions will be sold at the door and during intermission.

Media Center will be open only until 2pm today.

Have you ever wanted to fly a plane? Find out how and go for your own ride on Saturday, June 11 from 9 am–3pm at Meriden Airport (Rain Date: 6/12). The Young Eagles Rally encourages students ages 8-17 to explore aviation and learn all about what goes into flying and maintaining an airplane. Come see the flyer in the Career Center for more details.

SCHOOL NEWS: 

Attention students attending Senior Prom: 
In order to attend student activities such as Senior Prom, students must be in school for at least 50% of the school day. Students who arrive at 7:25am are eligible to be dismissed at 10:17am (after period 4). A link to a Google form was emailed to parents on Tuesday.  Please make sure your parents complete this form in order to grant you permission to be dismissed from school early. 
 
For those students who arrive after 7:25am, please be advised that it is important for you to be in school for at least half of the school day in order for your attendance at prom to be in good standing.  Failure to do so will prohibit your ability to attend. Advisors and administrators will be checking attendance throughout the day to ensure that all students attending prom meet these requirements. 
 
Senior Prom will be held at Sonny’s Place in Somers, CT. While this is a formal affair, students will have access to the following Sonny’s Place amenities at no additional cost from 8:00-10:00 PM: zipline, batting cages, mini golf, carousel, virtual reality, XD Dark Ride, and the arcade. There will also be a DJ and photobooth. Any students who choose to bring bags with a change of clothes (this is not required) will have their bags checked upon entry into the venue. 
 
Please know, the latest students can enter prom is 7:00 PM. Any student(s) arriving after that time will not be permitted.  In addition, once students decide to leave prom for the night, they will not be readmitted.

We are looking for someone who is artistic and has an idea for a class t-shirt. We are looking forward to your good ideas for the shirts! These t-shirt designs are due by June 3rd. Submit your t-shirt design on your Google Classroom page.

Last week, Girls Track and Field competed in the CCC East Championship.  Top scorers were Audrey Manning, Candace Walsh, and Sidney Montana, placing 4th, 5th, and 7th,  the 4X100 team of Sidney Montana, Candace Walsh, Audrey Manning, and Susan Otaluka placing 4th, Maddie Hathorn placing 3rd in Pole Vault, Audrey Manning placing 4th in the 200, Alyssa Drenga placing 7th in the mile and 6th in the two mile and 300 Hurdles, Grace Smith placing 7th in the two mile and 8th in 100 Hurdles, Kevian Curtis and Sophia McCormack placing 5th and 6th in Shot Put, Katelyn Baumgartner and Cass Rodriguez placing 5th and 7th in High Jump,  and Bridget Carrol placing 5th in Triple Jump.
