The Environmental Club hosts weekly meetings every Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Today we will be working with Jeff Folger, the Town's Senior Environmental Planner, to discuss tapping Walnut Trees for Syrup and removing invasive plants. If you are interested in the environment and want to work on cool projects, please attend today's meeting at 2:00 p.m. The class code is 5szwfah. New members are always welcome. Do your feet ever get cold in the winter? Imagine how cold your feet would be if you had to live outside and didn't have warm socks? The SADD Club "Sock it to the Cold" sock drive is happening this week and all donations will be given to help the homeless in our area. Drop off your new socks in the basket near the cafeteria or in the outside bin in front of the Community Center. Thank you!

Attention all guys with a singing voice! This is your chance to join the guys A Cappella group Understaffed! Rehearsals will be after school and virtual. Don't miss your chance to be a part of it! If you're interested in economics, finance, and the social sciences, the Economics Club is the place for you! Our first meeting is on Wednesday, December 9th, at 1:30 p.m. We will be discussing our initiatives for the year, including preparing for online competitions, leadership opportunities, a club-wide stock market game, current events discussions, weekly Kahoots, and much more. Please join the next Italian Club meeting on Monday, December 14th at 3:15 p.m. This will be a virtual meeting via Google Meet. We're going to be preparing Italian sweets in honor of the coming holidays. Be sure to join the Italian Club Google Classroom code kokgmma. All are welcome!

ALL South Windsor students are now eligible to receive a free breakfast and a free lunch provided by the school district. Please stop by the cafeteria on your way into school for your complimentary breakfast and then at lunchtime, stop by your designated serving area to choose your complimentary meal. For distance or hybrid at-home learners, Grab & Go meals are available by the rear entrance of the school near the football field Monday to Friday between 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

For current juniors looking to improve their SAT scores, College Planning Partnerships is offering this year's SAT prep class live and online. Current juniors can sign up for the 8-week, 20-hour course by going to www.satprepct.com/courses. Make sure to sign up soon to ensure you get the days and times that best suit your schedule. The course normally costs $695, but South Windsor High School juniors can enter the special code SWHS2021 at checkout to receive a $245 discount, reducing the cost to $450.

South Windsor High School will be administering the ASVAB CEP again this year. The test will be held on Wednesday, December 9th at 7:30 a.m. in the Seminar Room at SWHS. Whether you’re planning to go to college, a vocational school, or the Military, or you’re just not sure what you want to do yet, the ASVAB CEP can provide you with important information about your skills and interests -- and help get you on the right path toward a satisfying career. There are only 25 seats available so seats will be first come, first serve. The test is open to all students in grades 9-12. If you would like to take the ASVAB CEP please email Mr. Briggs.

College visits will continue for a couple more weeks. This week, there will be virtual visits with University of Hartford, Central CT State University, and Mitchell College. Please note - the Central visit is a rescheduled meeting from the previous one that experienced technical difficulties. Students should sign up in Naviance to receive the links to any of these virtual visits. Contact Mrs. Carty with any questions.

The Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Club will be collecting new socks for the "Sock It To The Cold" sock drive through Friday, December 11th! Donations can be placed in the laundry basket near the cafeteria doors. If you are not in school, but would like to donate, please drop off socks in the donation bin at the SW Community Center. The bin is located outside the main entrance. Thank you!

Hey Bobcats: If you're interested in elevating voices of the Latino + Columbian community and you want to strive for a change, then the United for Columbia Club is the club for you. We are currently looking for new members that can help with our upcoming podcasts, magazine, website, and SO MUCH more. All students are welcome to join with the Google Classroom code: xmjisap.
