SCHOOL NEWS:

Attention SWHS homerooms! Interact is hosting its 2nd annual SW PJ Palooza Day this Friday, 12/6 to raise money and awareness for CCMCs PJ Day. Homerooms will compete to earn points based on money raised and PJ attire and accessories worn on Friday December 6th. The homeroom with the highest points will win a pizza party and the homeroom teacher wins duty coverage for one period. Check out your grade level google classrooms and posters around the building for point values. Good luck!

The 9th Grade Class of 2028 will host a fundraiser at a local sandwich shop located at 1006 Sullivan Avenue on December 4th from 4 to 7pm. See our social media page for details.

There will be pet supply donation boxes in the Cafeteria and Annex lobby now thru December 16th. Donations will benefit Our Companions Animal Rescue in Manchester. 

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES: 

Come to the next Italian Club meeting on Thursday, December 5th right after school in Room 105 of the High School. We're going to be making and eating pizzelle, cannoli, ricotta cookies, Italian chocolate cookies, and Italian Pinch Cookies. Space is limited, so please bring $5 to Mrs. Zaccardelli in Annex room 35 to save a spot. 

The HOPE Club meets today after school in Room 207. Come explore careers in healthcare and create medical inspired shrinky dink keychains or ornaments! The 9th Grade Class of 2028 is hosting a fundraiser at Subway in South Windsor on Wednesday, December 4th from 4-9pm.

There will be boxes collecting new and gently used sports equipment at the high school Lobby and Annex Main Entrance through December 18th. All equipment will be donated to local organizations that serve kids in need.

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES: 

Attention all Japanese Club members who will be presenting next week at Timothy Edwards School: We have a mandatory meeting on WEDNESDAY, December 4th. It will be a dress rehearsal (bring your traditional Japanese clothing) and practice for the presentation. Mr. Mabasa will bring in homemade sushi seasoned rice, wrapped in seaweed, as well as Japanese snacks.

The Mu Alpha Theta will meet on Thursday, Dec 5th in the Auditorium, NOT the Annex Cafeteria. Please note the location change. We will see you in the Auditorium by 2:10pm.

The Water Launch Club's first organizational meeting is on Thursday, December 12th right after school in Annex Room 35. Join our Google Classroom with code: nkglssx. We aim to provide clean and safe water across villages in Sub-Saharan Africa by working with and fundraising for The Water Project, a non-profit organization. We will be selecting leadership positions and deciding on our fundraisers for this year.

SCHOOL NEWS:

Friday, December 6th is CT Children’s Medical Center Pajama Day for the KIDS! This year the SWHS Interact Club is challenging you and your homeroom to compete in our 2nd annual PJ Palooza! We ask students and teachers to donate at least one dollar and earn points for specific pj attire including pj pants, matching pj outfit, slippers, bathrobes, sleep stuffies, etc. Teachers, you can participate too! Bonus points will be awarded to homerooms with participating teachers. Points will also be awarded for specific monetary amounts that homerooms can collectively raise. Each grade level will have a winning homeroom with prizes including a student pizza party and duty coverage for the winning homeroom teacher by an SWHS admin! Please review PJ Palooza posters around the school for the official point breakdown. All funds raised go to CCMCs efforts to end childhood cancer.

The HOPE club is welcoming a guest speaker on Wednesday, 12/11 after school in the Seminar Room. Come hear directly from a nurse practitioner with over 20 years experience to learn about this unique and rewarding career path. The 3-D Printing Club is meeting on Tuesday, December 17th after school from 2:15 to 3:00 in the library. Join us to learn about 3D print design and printing. ATHLETICS:

There will be a boys basketball informational meeting regarding tryouts on Tuesday, 12/3 at 2:15 pm in Room 102. Anyone interested in trying out for Varsity, JV or freshman boys basketball should plan on attending this meeting.
