Curtain Up! The fully digital South Windsor High School musical production, "Pandemonium 2020," will premiere on Friday, May 7th! The cabaret-style show features nine talented students performing short, original scenes and songs from the American musical theatre canon. Save the date! 

Attention Seniors: Please visit the Class of 2021 Google Classroom for important information about senior events. Mrs. McCool will be collecting payments in the library this week during the school day for the senior events. If you are attending the senior outing, be sure to bring your signed permission slip along with your payment. The South Windsor Girls Travel Basketball Scholarship application has just been posted with a deadline of May 5th. Applicants must have participated in at least one season with South Windsor Girls Travel Basketball, and preferably have played at least one sport all four years at SWHS. Application information is available in Naviance. Students who are interested should start the application soon to allow time to gather recommendations and write an essay.
 
Would you like to know about a career in Medical Assisting or Advanced Manufacturing Technology? Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield is offering FREE classes for high school students in these topics over the summer. These hands-on courses are a great way to explore career options while earning college credits at NO COST. If you would like to know more, please visit the Career Center to view flyers posted on the bulletin board.
 
More summer job opportunities are available to students who are at least 16 years old and looking to work part-time. Six Flags New England in Agawam, MA is looking to hire friendly, outgoing, and driven applicants for Ride Operations, Food and Beverage, Lifeguarding, Security, Games, Retail, and the Clean Team. LAZ Parking is looking for lot attendants and flaggers for their summer events at Rentschler Field, Dunkin Donuts Park, Xfinity Theater and Travelers. The JE Shepard Scholarship deadline has just been extended to May 5th. This $2,000 award is given to a SWHS student who has demonstrated initiative, spirit and integrity in serving his/her community, and it is a great opportunity for students to apply for a local scholarship.
 
ATHLETIC NEWS:
Shout out to the South Windsor Lady Bobcats Golf Team on their first victory! The Ladies defeated New Britain on Wednesday. Low scores were had by Meghna Mazumdar and Abby Bergstrom. Great job ladies!

Please join the South Windsor High School community in wishing our Muslim friends a happy Ramadan. Ramadan is a commemoration of the first revelation of Muhammad and is celebrated by Muslims worldwide. Ramadan began April 13th and will end with the celebration of Eid in May. Happy Ramadan!

Admission is for female students who are current juniors. The program will take place virtually in October. Boys Tennis continued its undefeated season with a 5-2 win over EO Smith. Winning for the Bobcats were: Rahul Mahesh, Matthew Chin and Kevin Joseph at Singles and Vrishab Murali & Anthony Chen and Sri Sripada & Trinayaan Hariharan at Doubles. The Bobcats record is now 5-0 with one of our toughest matches coming up this Friday versus Glastonbury at South Windsor. Great job Bobcats!

Do you enjoy competitive video games? Are you a fan of casual gaming? If so, then Strategy Club is the place for you! We have a wide variety of games and activities that cater to many preferences. Some activities we offer include Dungeons and Dragons, Minecraft, Among Us, Smash Bros. and many more! We meet virtually every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. after school via Google Meet. Winning for the Bobcats were Singles Players Co-Captain Jonathan Huot, Matthew Chin, Co-Captain Rahul Mahesh and Jack Kronwetter and Doubles players Vrishab Murali & Anthony Chen and Sri Sripada & Trinayaan Hariharan. The Bobcats are undefeated this season and their next match is Wednesday at EO Smith. Good Luck Bobcats!

Yesterday, 110 SWHS students were inducted into the World Language Honor Societies - French, Latin, Italian and Spanish. Congratulations to all!

 
Six members of FCCLA competed in the State Competition and each member earned a gold or silver medal in their category. The following students won awards: Aditi Malpure, Samantha Belekewicz, Nadia Siddiqui, Caroline Hegi, Hiba Khan, and Susanna Gerald. Congratulations Bobcats!

Some scholarships include: the JE Shepard Award, the SW Rotary Club Scholarship, the SW Little League Scholarship, the Sgt. Matthew Mainieri Scholarship and the SW Administrator Association Perseverance Award. If you have any questions on how to find these scholarships or apply, please see Mrs. Carty.

A local landscaping company is hiring for the spring and summer. Part-time hours are available now for after school and weekends, but work can be full-time for the summer. No experience is necessary as the company is willing to train. Pay is $14 per hour. See a copy of the flyer in the Career Center or contact Mrs. Carty.

The following students have been selected as the Students of the Month for March. Congratulations to: Anthony Attianese, Samantha Deras, Olivia Kvadus, Shakira Lin, Audrey Manning, Anamitra Rawat, Neigya Skyers, and Nation Wells.
 
The FBLA Spring Leadership Conference and Competition was held on Saturday, April 10th. Our school chapter won Gold for The FBLA Chapter Recognition Award! Pranav Ramesh won the Who's Who Award and received the Richard Dwyer Scholarship. The following students also won awards: Rohan Pruthi, Kavin Shanmugam, Jaideep Naik, Faizdeenkhan Pathan, Keshav Ramesh, Abhinay Prabhuraj, Trinayaan Harriharan, and Saoudkhan Pathan. Congratulations to all for a great job!

Virtual college visits for TODAY: Binghamton University at 1:00 p.m. and Curry College at 1:45 p.m. Sign up through Naviance by logging into your home screen and look under the “What’s New” section for the list of upcoming visits.

The FBLA Spring Leadership Conference and Competition was held on Saturday, April 10th. Our school chapter won Gold for The FBLA Chapter Recognition Award! Pranav Ramesh won the Who's Who Award and received the Richard Dwyer Scholarship. The following students also won awards: Rohan Pruthi, Kavin Shanmugam, Jaideep Naik, Faizdeenkhan Pathan, Keshav Ramesh, Abhinay Prabhuraj, Trinayaan Harriharan, and Saoudkhan Pathan. Congratulations to all for a great job!
 
Juniors and Seniors can attend the CONNect Virtual College Fair, an opportunity to learn about Central, Eastern, Southern, Western, and UConn in an on-line meeting format. There will be representatives from each university available to answer questions. The program will run this Wednesday, April 21st from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 12th. ATHLETIC NEWS:

The Boys Tennis Team hosted a very competitive Farmington team and won the match with a score of 4-3. Winning for the Bobcats were Matthew Chin at #2 Singles, Captain Rahul Mahesh at #3 Singles, Kevn Joseph at #4 Singles and Trinayaan Hariharan & Sri Sripada at #2 Doubles. There was great play all around and the team showed great determination and perseverance to come up with the win. Great job Bobcats!

Last Tuesday, Girls Track and Field won their meet against RHAM, 82 to 64 with many strong performances and first place finishes. Congratulations to Erin Dunn who qualified for States in pole vault and the 4X100 team of Candace Walsh, Sidney Montana, Erin Dunn, and Katelyn Baumgartner who also qualified for states. First place finishes went to Amanda Walsh in hurdles, Candace Walsh in sprints, Caroline Hegi and Maya Hathorn in jumps, Sophia McCormack in throws, and Erin Dunn in pole vault.

Attention Freshmen: You will be receiving new Chromebooks this Wednesday, April 21st or Thursday, April 22nd during your Science class. Please make sure to bring your old Chromebook and charger to school on those days.

Curtain UP! The fully digital South Windsor High School musical production, "Pandemonium 2020," will premiere on Friday, May 7th! The cabaret-style show features nine talented students performing short, original scenes and songs from the American musical theatre canon. Save the date!

A local landscaping company is hiring for the spring and summer. Part-time hours are available now for after school and weekends, but work can be full-time for the summer. No experience is necessary as the company is willing to train. Pay is $14 per hour with the opportunity to earn more based on hard work. If you are interested in applying, see the flyer in the Career Center or contact Mrs. Carty for a copy of it.

The Boys Varsity Tennis Team played their first match of the season versus Rocky Hill in unseasonably cold weather and had a dominating win defeating Rocky Hill 7-0. Winning for South Windsor were Jonathan Huot at #1 Singles and Rahul Mahesh at #3 Singles, Matthew Chin at #2 Singles, Vrishab Murali & Anthony Chen at #1 Doubles, Sri Sripada & Trinayaan Hariharan at #2 Doubles and Kevin Joseph at #4 Singles. All matches were done in 2 sets!!
