Beginning today, Senior Parking Permit Applications will be accepted for the 2021-2022 school year. Permits will only be available to seniors at this time. The application can be found on the SWHS website under Forms. A fee of $100 along with all required documentation must be turned in with the application. No incomplete applications will be accepted. Applications can be dropped off in the Main Office or in Admin 237.  
 
Seniors: Two new scholarships are now available! The South Windsor Soccer Club Scholarship is open to former members of the soccer club who would like to continue their education next year. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded, and applications are due Wednesday, June 16th. The Red Sox Service Scholarship is for seniors who make an impact through service in their community. There will be multiple $1,000 scholarship winners who will be invited to attend a game at Fenway Park. The application is due Friday, June 25th. Both opportunities are listed in Naviance in the scholarship database.
 
If you are a graduating senior about to enter a trade school or community college in a trades program, a new scholarship has been created and applications have become available! You can find the Greater Hartford Trades Scholarship in Naviance or come to the Career Center for help. The packing and shipping company will train all employees and is in need of part-time, full-time and summer help. If you have ever wondered what your neighborhood would look like from the sky or have been curious about airplanes or being a pilot, you may want to check out the Young Eagles Rally at Meriden-Markham Airport on Saturday, June 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants will take a FREE flight and see what real pilots do. You must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and you can register at the event. If you would like to see a flyer with more details, please stop by the Career Center and look on the bulletin board marked “Programs and Events”.

Last week, Girls Track and Field competed in the Conference Championship meet and finished with a 4-3 record for the regular season. At the championship, Abby Weiner won javelin and Erin Dunn won pole vault, achieving All Conference. Maddie Hathorn took 3rd in pole vault, and Bridget Carroll took 3rd in triple jump. Katelyn Baumgartner, Sidney Montana, Candace Walsh, Mikayla Allore, Caroline Hegi, Sophia McCormack, Erin Stephens, Alyssa Drenga, Maya Hathorn, and Grace Smith all finished in the top 8 of their individual events. Congratulations on a great season!

The Black Student Alliance will host its last club meeting TODAY at 2:30 p.m. In this virtual meeting, we'll discuss stories both personal and ripped from the headlines, as well as set some goals for next year. Everyone is welcome! See Ms. Cliff for more info. Join our google classroom: duzv4au 
 
The SWHS Math Team Tournament will be hosting a "Puzzle Rush" where teams race to solve  puzzles within a set time limit. This will take place TODAY from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded! New teams of 2 to 5 are welcome; join the Google Classroom with 7m5sgvy to sign up your team.

Good News! Congratulations to Pranav Ramesh for earning Bronze in the American Computer Science League finals. He competed against students from around the world and earned a score of 38 out of a possible 40 points.

Tryouts for the 2021-2022 SWHS Cheerleading team will be held on Thursday, June 10th, and Friday, June 11th, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the gym. You must attend both days. In order to try-out, all online registration forms must be submitted to the main office, including a current Physician's Statement. The form can be found on the website under Athletics/Forms.

ATHLETIC NEWS:
The Boys Tennis Team finished out their season with a quarterfinal loss in the Class L State Tournament to Darien. The Bobcats had a great season finishing with a record of 13 wins and 5 losses. The team won their division in the CCC and are looking forward to next season where a number of underclassmen will be returning! Congratulations to all the graduating seniors: Johan Chittisery, Aidan Kieft, Andrew Kotait, Jack Kronenwetter and Keshav Ramesh. A special thanks to the senior tri-captains: Jonthan Huot, Rahul Mahesh and Manav Surti! Congratulations to the Bobcat Boys Tennis Team on an amazing season!
