May is Asian-American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month.  As we celebrate and honor the AAPI communities this month, take a moment to recognize the numerous contributions members of the AAPI community have made to our country and the world. Please take a moment to reflect on how you can contribute to a more inclusive community.  
 
Hispanic and LatinE Club focuses on elevating and celebrating all of the different Hispanic and LatinE cultures through open discussions, open mics, our website, articles, and more! If you are interested in joining the Hispanic and LatinE Organization please join the google classroom using the code: xmijsap or contact Ana Norato, Caroline Hegi or Mr. Stead.

The Japanese Club will meet virtually this Thursday, May 6th at 2:30 p.m. We will learn of Japanese festivals and continue to speak more Japanese! 

For the first time in years, SWHS will hold a Culture Night (virtually of course). Come celebrate your culture with other students and learn about each other. If you are interested in presenting your culture please join the google classroom using this code: esqjo2w or contact Ana Norato, Caroline Hegi or Mr. Stead. We will be holding an informational meeting so stay tuned. 

Do you enjoy competitive video games? Are you a fan of casual gaming? If so, then Strategy Club is the place for you! We have a wide variety of games and activities that cater to many preferences. Some activities we offer include Dungeons and Dragons, Minecraft, Among Us, Smash Bros. and many more! We meet virtually every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. after school via Google Meet. Our classroom code is k4qkjgm.   
 
Seniors: If you plan to attend Senior Outing and/or Reception, all payments & signed outing permission slips are due THIS THURSDAY, May 6th. On Friday, May 7th, you will be able to sign up for outing busses and table/meal selection for reception. All sign ups will be posted to Google classroom and must be completed by Monday, May 10th. If you have any questions, please see or email Ms. Andrews or Mrs. McCool. 

Seniors who have not yet completed Capstone are in danger of being unable to attend Senior Outing. There is a mandatory workshop being held this Friday, May 7th to aid you in finishing this graduation requirement. It will take place in room 132 for students attending in person.  Full distance learners will attend online via Google Meet. Students will be scheduled for a workshop during their early release, study hall, or may be excused from classes depending on their individual class schedule. You will be informed of when you are to attend the workshop through Google Classroom and your school email. To be eligible to attend Senior Outing, the written portion of Capstone must be turned into Google Classroom by May 13th. After you have completed the written components, your presentation will be scheduled. Capstone requirements are detailed on the Capstone Google Classroom. Seniors: There are still scholarships available with approaching deadlines. The William L Perry Scholarship, which is awarded to seniors who have exhibited outstanding leadership, while maintaining a rigorous course load, and strong academic performance. Applicants must show a record of participation in high commitment activities such as athletics, music or drama, while also being active leaders in service clubs or student government. This is a great opportunity for students who meet the criteria as it is for SWHS students ONLY. You must apply by May 14th. The application is linked to the scholarship listing in Naviance. Channel 3 Kids Camp in Andover is looking for GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS wishing to work with kids of all abilities while being a part of a unique and diverse community. They are hosting an on-site Summer Job Fair this Saturday, May 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the camp, located at 73 Times Farm Road in Andover, CT.
