SCHOOL NEWS
The library will be closed after school TODAY, Thursday, September 23rd and Friday, September 24th. Please plan accordingly. 
 
It's time for the 9th Grade Class of 2025 elections! Positions available are President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The candidate application form can be found on the 9th Grade Class of 2025 Google Classroom. Speeches are due to Mrs. Barrett by Monday, September 27th. Any questions, please see Mrs. Barrett in room 122A. Elections will be held on Tuesday, October 5th. 
 
On behalf of the SWHS Sexuality and Gender Alliance, we'd like to share that TODAY, September 23rd, is Bisexuality Day, which celebrates the bisexual culture, history, and community. Bisexuality is a sexual and/or romantic orientation defined as the attraction to people of multiple genders, although it is typically simplified to the attraction to both men and women.. Today serves as reminder that every day is a day for respect and acceptance, so remember to always be kind to others, no matter how they identify or express themselves!
 
Rho Kappa: The National Social Studies Honor Society is currently inviting eligible Juniors and Seniors to apply for this opportunity. The application form will be posted and shared by your Social Studies teachers in Google Classroom. Additional information can be found on the application. If you are interested, but not currently in a Social Studies class please email Mrs. Slogesky, [email protected]. The deadline for the application is Friday. September 24th
 
Interested in leadership opportunities, service and building community? The Common Ground program is back and is seeking applicants for this upcoming Fall. This program brings dozens of schools together to build leadership, strengthen resumes, serve the community and make new friendships. All information including the schedule and online application are available on Google Classroom with join code l2g6osz. The deadline to apply is September 30th. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Orsini in room 235. 
 
Seniors: The first wave of Capstone presentations will be on Wednesday, October 13th. To be eligible to present, you must have all written work turned in to your adviser's Google Classroom by September 29th. Then, you have until October 6th at 2:00 pm to sign up for a time slot. You can present either in person or virtually using Google Meet. In order to receive an honor cord for Capstone you must: present on October 13 (or in January), receive a score of highly successful on ALL written work, a highly successful on your presentation, AND submit a 3-minute highlight video. CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES
Attention all students! Are you interested in getting more volunteer hours? Develop leadership skills and connect back to the community? Interact Club is starting up again for the year! An informational meeting will be held TODAY, Thursday, September 23rd from 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. in the Media Center Classroom! We will also be revealing our new classroom code for the school year! If you have any questions, please see an Interact officer or Mrs. Howard in room 134.
 
The Japanese Culture Club will meet TODAY, Thursday, September 23rd right after school in room 230. We will learn Japanese and watch anime. New members are always welcome. Classroom code: wt4upbd 
 
Science Olympiad will have its first informational meeting TODAY, Thursday, September 23rd in the auditorium. Meeting will begin at 2:15 p.m. and information on try-outs will be provided. Please be on time as we only plan to meet for a half hour. Join our classroom code with mromdrr and please see Mrs. Snyder or Mr. Kraus if you have any questions.
 
Interested in gaining confidence and communication skills? Join the Debate Club! Our first meeting will be on Friday, September 24th afterschool in room 250. No prior experience is required, if interested please stop by! Contact Ms. Howard (chemistry teacher) with any questions.
 
The Italian Club will have its first meeting on Monday, September 27th afterschool in room 226. We will be talking about executive board positions at this meeting. Please join our Google Classroom using code: ivv437m. See Mr. Orsini or Mrs. Zaccardelli with any questions.
 
Are you interested in a future healthcare profession? Do you want to get a chance to talk to various healthcare professionals about their educational journey and experiences working in the medical industry? HOPE Club or Healthcare Occupational Professionals and Education Club is starting up again for the year! Join and meet and talk to guest speakers, get involved with Red Cross Blood Drives, and participate in STEM events! Be there for our first meeting on Tuesday, September 28th at 2:00 p.m. in room 204! 
 
Our literary magazine club, Mind's Eye, will hold its first meeting of the year next Wednesday, September 29th at 2:15 p.m. in room 129. New and returning members are welcome!
 
Woodworking Club will meet on Wednesdays from 2:10 to 3:10 p.m. beginning on September 29th. Come join us in room 2 - this club is open to all students and no experience is required.
 
Hi Bobcat Foodies! Our September Cooking Club is SOLD OUT but if you would like to sign up for next month's Cooking Club on October 28th, please bring $5 to Ms. Cliff in 133 or Sra. Ruiz in 233.
 
The SADD Club will hold an informational meeting in the AUDITORIUM on Wednesday, September 29th at 7:00 a.m. Join us to learn more about the many issues that we tackle, including distracted driving, drug and alcohol prevention and stress management. All students are welcome to join!
 
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER
Upcoming college visit: Seton Hall University on Friday in the Career Center. Please register in Naviance. This is an excused absence, but you will need to get your teacher’s permission to miss class.
