SCHOOL NEWS: 

If you missed the in person voter registration drive last week, here is some additional information about registering to vote on-line in CT. Online registration can be found here: 
Step 1: Go to the Secretary of the State website: https://portal.ct.gov/SOTS 
Step 2: Click on Elections and Voting
Step 3: Click on Register to Vote or Update Your Registration Online; then continue until finished.

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:

Academic Support Club meets every Monday through Thursday, from 2pm to 3:30pm in Room 122A. If you need help with your homework, please join! We will have NHS tutors there to help you each day. We will provide a drink and a snack. There are late buses on these days except Tuesdays. See Mrs. Barrett if you have any questions!

All  students, new or returning, interested in joining the Science Olympiad team at SWHS need to complete the informational survey posted on our Club Google Classroom. Stay tuned for more information about tryouts.
 
Are you interested in helping others make good choices? Are you looking for a club that plans activities like safe driving programs, alcohol /drug prevention awareness and stress reduction programs? Are you a morning person? If yes, then come check out the SADD Club at our first meeting on Wed., Sep. 28th at 7am in the Auditorium. Join the SADD Classroom for more info: 5fdckiz
 
Do you want to grow your interest in STEM? Join FSLA, where you can come to the trivia games, volunteer opportunities, tutoring/mentoring program, among other things. We have our first meeting in room 212 on Thursday September 29th right after school. Please contact Mrs. Davies, Arnav Kumar, or Kevin Joseph for more information. 
 
Join Italian Club (Google Classroom Code: jpvw2ye) Come to our first meeting on Wednesday, September 28th right after school in Room 226.  We will have a snack, talk about what we'd like to do for activities this year, and open applications for officers and the Italian Club Executive Board. Please see Mrs. Zaccardelli in Room 226 with any questions.
 
Are you interested in promoting Art and Writing at our school? Our school's literary magazine club, Mind's Eye, will hold its first meeting on Thursday September 29th after school in Room 129. Our Google Classroom code is yoaushq. New and returning members welcome.
 
The Computer Science Club is back. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday September 28th in the Seminar Room from 2pm- 3pm. For more information you can join the Google classroom with the code hre4zdx or stop down and see Mr. Snyder in Room 9.

Interested in a future in healthcare or medicine? HOSA (formerly HOPE) will host its first informational meeting on Tuesday, September 27th in Room 204. We will discuss our upcoming blood drive, guest speaker events, and hands-on activities. 
 
Are you interested in making the world a better place? Giving back to your community? Helping others? Join Interact Club! Interact is a community service club which gives members a chance to get volunteer experience, develop leadership skills, and have fun! Our first meeting is Thursday September 29th at 2:05 in the back of the Media Center. Attendance is mandatory for all looking to participate this year. New members are welcome! If you have questions, please see Mrs. Howard in Room 134.
 
Rho Kappa application now available: Rho Kappa, The National Social Studies Honor Society, is currently inviting eligible Juniors and Seniors to apply for this opportunity. The application form will be posted and shared by your Social Studies teachers in Google Classroom. Additional information can be found on the application. If you are interested, but not currently in a Social Studies class please email Mrs. Slogesky, [email protected] or Mrs. Simcik, [email protected] The deadline for the application is Friday September 30th.
 
The Bobcat Bowling Club is back!  Anyone interested in joining the Bowling Club can roll on down to room 168 and ask Mr. Gray any questions you might have and pick-up a permission slip. COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER: 

This week in the Career Center we will have visits from the following colleges: Springfield College, Xavier University, Salve Regina University, Goodwin University, Lasell University, High Point University, Southern Connecticut State University, Bryant University, and SUNY College at Oswego. Also, Seniors are reminded that there are College application and essay workshops 8th period and after school on Wednesday, September 28th and after school on Thursday, September 29th. 

ATHLETICS:

Join the SWHS Gymnastics Team! The pre-season meeting will be Friday, September 30th at 6:30pm in room 102 at SWHS. Any student athlete interested in learning more about the team, requirements and the schedule for this year is welcome! Parents are also welcome at this meeting.
