CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:  

 

The Black Student Alliance (BSA) will have an Interest Meeting on Wednesday, September 18 in Room 103 from 2:15-3:15. BSA is a safe space for students to share their school and cultural experiences, and discuss current events. Interested students are encouraged to join the Google Classroom: ecwnhhf to stay up-to-date on all BSA upcoming meetings and events. Please see Mrs. Davis for more information.

 

The first Student Council Meeting will be held in the back of the MEDIA CENTER from 2:15-3 pm on 9/19. Please come ready to discuss ideas about Homecoming Spirit Week & the Pep Rally! All members welcome & new members encouraged!

 

The Islamic Club will hold its first meeting on Wednesday September 18th after school from 2-3 in Room 227. Please join using Google Classroom code: i7bdywc. Contact Mr. Ly (Lee) in Room 227 or Alveena Suha with any questions.

 

Join the Unified for Underprivileged Girls club after school in Room 256 on September 19th for the first club meeting of the year. Learn more about the club, meet this year’s officers, and make some friendship bracelets! All are welcome! Join the UUG google classroom page with code, jzhzw3g to learn more.

 

The “Paint for Positivity” club will have its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 18th in Room 121. Please join us at 2:10 to be with friends who also like to paint. If you have any questions, please ask Mrs. Rentz in Room 121.

                                                                                                

The September Cooking Club Day will be on Thursday, September 26th at 2:00 PM in Room 105 at SWHS. We will feature French cuisine this month like Quiche Lorraine, Ratatouille, Croque Monsieur, Madeleines and Creme Brulee. Please bring $5 to Sra. Ruiz in AN 56 or to Sra. Hwang in AN 37 to reserve your spot today.  

                                                                                                     

The first meeting of the Math Team will take place on Friday, September 20, at 2:10pm in Room 265. If you enjoy solving challenging math problems without a calculator, this is the team for you! We will be discussing the upcoming season, including the schedule, practices and opportunities to compete. Please bring a charged Chromebook. If you cannot attend or have questions, please contact Mr. Brindisi. You may enroll in the Math Team Google Classroom with code re34gao.

The FIRST Japanese Club meeting is next WEDNESDAY, September 19 in Room 230.

木曜日の教室番号230に、最後のメーチングがあります。

We will discuss club activities, choose club leadership positions, learn Japanese and watch a Japanese anime movie.

活動とかリダシップこととか日本語を勉強してアニメをみてします。

Of course,  traditional Japanese food  SENBEI (sen-bay) will be provided.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

 

Career Center visits for the rest of this week include the Connecticut Army National Guard, Endicott College, Western New England University, University of Connecticut, and Plymouth State University. Please sign up in Naviance so that we know there are interested students and do not cancel the visit.

                                                                                                          

Students in grades 10 or 11 who are interested in learning more about Bristol Technical Education Center as an option for career-based learning are invited to attend an Open House on Thursday, October 3rd at their campus. A flier with more details, including the event time and address is hanging in the Career Center on the Special Programs board. Grade 12 students wanting to learn about careers in the aircraft management industry should attend Connecticut AeroTech’s Open House at their Brainerd Road campus on Saturday, October 5th. A flier for this program can also be found in the Career Center.

                                                                               

Do You Love to Swim? I.O.H. (Instructors of the Handicapped), a swim program for disabled adults and children, is looking for High School volunteer instructors. Attend an informational meeting Sunday, September 29th, 1:00 pm at Manchester High School Pool. If Interested, contact: Jenna Adams, cell phone 860-836-5982.
