SCHOOL NEWS:

 

Please consider signing up to donate blood on Wednesday, October 30 during school. Every donation counts. To sign up, scan the QR code on the posters around school, or through the volunteers that are available during all lunch waves this week. We will also take walk-ins on Wednesday 10/30. You must be 17 or older, or 16 with a parent permission form to donate. See Ms. Karasinski in Room 207 for more information.

 

Please support the Class of 2027 on October 25th from 4pm to 8 pm at a local bread shop located at 100 Hemlock Avenue.

 

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:  

 

The Travel Club is pleased to extend the Quebec field trip to other students in the World Languages Department. The trip is Friday, February 7 to Monday February 10, 2025. The selection criteria is on a first come, first served basis. There are 18 positions left to be filled. Hurry up, space is limited. Please see Mr. Ly in Room 227 with questions.

                                                                                                                          

The October Cooking Club Day is Thursday, October 24th at 2:00 PM in Room 105 at SWHS. This month we will cook Hispanic cuisine in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and bake spooky treats for Halloween. Please bring $5 to Sra. Ruiz in AN 56 or to Sra. Hwang in AN 37 to reserve your spot today.  

 

The HOPE Club’s spooky October Meeting is Thursday, October 24th from 2:10pm to 3pm in the back of the Media Center. Come to this blood-themed meeting to make friends and learn about blood typing, how to take a blood pressure, and how to stop bleeding! 

 

The Black Student Alliance is bringing back delicious Halloween-O-Grams. Send a terrifically spooky treat to fellow students and staff. The Candy grams will be delivered during Bobcat Block on October 31st. Purchase by scanning the QR code listed on fliers throughout the building. 

 

The  French club  will be making Crêpes with Nutella, Strawberries, bananas and whipped cream and Chocolate Madeleines Mummies on Wednesday October 23rd in Room 105 after school. Space is limited to 20 students. See Mr. Ly in Room 227 to reserve your spot. 

 

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

 

This week’s college visits include: American International College, Sacred Heart University, Northwestern University, Rivier University, Vanderbilt University, University of Hartford, Providence College and Smith College. Sign up in Naviance to attend.

 

Students interested in learning more about a career in Actuarial Science and Analytics should see Mrs. Carty in the Career Center today. Travelers is hosting a virtual career workshop on November 15th to explore the actuary or analytics professions specifically, and they have invited interested SWHS students to participate. Students must enroll right away.

 

ATHLETICS:

 

The final fall sports Captain’s Council Meeting of the season will be held on Wednesday, Oct 23rd during Bobcat Block in the Seminar Room.
