SCHOOL NEWS:
Your opportunity to audition for the award-winning show choir Choral Spectrum is here! Auditions will take place on February 20th at 6 PM in the Auditorium. To audition, you need to attend the in-person audition and also complete an online vocal audition—both are required. All audition materials and details can be accessed using class code: qeotvrl. Choral Spectrum is an honors-level class that counts toward your arts credit for graduation while giving you the opportunity to perform at an elite level. The annual South Windsor Patriotic Commission Essay contest is underway. For students in grades 9 – 12 the theme is “What it means to be an American.” Completed essays should be 500 words or less and submitted by Friday, March 7th. All submissions should be made on the South Windsor Patriotic Commission’s website—please visit the site for more details.
CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES:
The HOPE club is hosting a guest speaker on Thursday, February 20th after school in the seminar room. Join us to hear from a neuroradiologist about why you should consider this competitive field, and what you can do to prepare for college, grad school, and beyond. Feel free to bring any questions you might have for a medical professional. For more information, see the HOPE club google classroom or the flyers posted around the school.
The Cooking Club will be celebrating Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day on Thursday, February 20th in Room 105 at the High School from 2:05 PM-4:00 PM. We will make: Cupid's Love Potion Punch, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Chicken Lo Mein, Lunar New Year Peanut Cookies, Strawberry White Chocolate Blondie Bars and Cupid Cloud Dessert. Please bring $5 to Sra. Ruiz in Annex Room 56 or to Sra. Hwang in Annex Room 37.

Castles do not only exist in Europe. This Thursday, explore the fascinating world of Samurai Castles all over Japan, their historical significance, as well as accompanying vocabulary. Likewise, eating Japanese food, we will discuss ideas for this year’s Multicultural Fair. The Japanese Culture Club is open to all.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

ATHLETICS:
Spring Sports registration is now open. If you plan on trying out for a spring sport, please be sure to register online. Registration is not complete until you have submitted the online registration, a valid physician statement and the pay-for-play fee. Registration deadline is March 12th. Late registrations are not guaranteed to be processed in time for tryouts. See Mrs. Zaino or Mrs. McLaughlin with any questions.
