Having trouble in one of your classes? NHS students are here to help! They offer free tutoring in any subject with flexible hours. To request a tutor, go to the NHS website on the Clubs and Activities page and fill out the Google Form. 

If you are interested in the dental field and would like to hear more about what goes on in all areas of a dental office, come to the Career Center on Friday, December 6th at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Norige, a South Windsor dentist, will present to students and talk about the variety of careers available – from being a dentist or hygienist to serving in research and administrative roles. If you plan to attend, please sign up in Naviance or see Mrs. Carty so we can let Dr. Norige know how many students to expect.

Students with college application deadlines of January 1st must submit their academic records request form to the School Counseling office by Monday, December 9th. Remember that forms are due 10 school days before your deadline and with the upcoming winter break, that time is fast approaching!

A representative from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford will visit the Career Center on Thursday, December 5th at 11:45 a.m. Please note – this visit is for students interested in the art program and it is not a general visit from the University of Hartford. Please sign up in Naviance if you are interested in the Hartford Art School.

The SWHS Book Club will meet Monday, December 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in room 201. We will be discussing our read of The Starless Sea by Erin Morganstern. Everyone is welcome!

FSLA or also known as Future Stem Leaders of America is about getting kids interested in the stem field and helping them think about the different careers this field can offer. We will be creating new projects and tournaments soon and we would love your help. Our classroom code is: eu163cz and we are meeting this Tuesday, December 3rd. Hope to see you there!

The 3rd Annual Holiday Hoopla Craft Fair will be held TOMORROW, Saturday, November 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at South Windsor High School. This event benefits South Windsor High School's graduating class for Operation Graduation (a drug and alcohol free safe fun filled night for our graduating seniors). This year the Holiday Hoopla will have over 100 crafters, vendors, and local authors. Come get a head start on your Christmas decorating or shopping to find that perfect gift or stocking stuffer and support your small local businesses! Admission is FREE.

The Sophomore Class of 2022 is hosting a fundraiser at a local smoothie and juice bar on Sullivan Ave TOMORROW, Saturday, November 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. When you come, make sure to tell them that you're supporting the class of 2022. Thank you for your support!

Attention Seniors: Don't forget that the gift card fundraiser is going on until next Tuesday. Orders must be turned in before school, between periods, or after school from 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. by Tuesday November 26th to Ms. Andrews in room 234C or Mrs. Mazzonna in 264. You MUST HAND YOUR ORDERS DIRECTLY to Ms. Andrews or Mrs. Mazzonna. Please do not leave them on a desk or hand them to anyone else.

The ASVAB is coming to SWHS tomorrow, Friday, November 22nd at 7:30 a.m. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is the Military's skill assessment test, which helps students uncover their strengths and what careers both within and outside the Military those strengths align with. This test is a free service for SWHS students. If you are interested in taking the ASVAB please sign up in the School Counseling Office.

November 21, people around the world unite to demand better in the fight against the world’s toughest cancer. The World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition brings together more than 80 organizations from over 30 countries and six continents to raise awareness and inspire action. Through this combined effort, we are bringing greater attention, awareness, and better outcomes to this deadly disease. If you would like to support this fight, wear purple or your Bombara Strong T-shirt tomorrow, Thursday, November 21st!

The Bobcat Leaders for Inclusion Conference will now begin at 7:25 a.m. in the morning tomorrow, Wednesday, November 20th. All students attending will be excused from all of their classes on Wednesday.

The Computer Science Club meeting will be held Wednesday, November 20th after school in the Media Center Project Room. Join us as we practice for our first competition! Everyone is welcome and bring a friend!

Our literary magazine club, Mind's Eye, will have a short meeting Thursday, November 21st after school in room 129. New members are welcome!

There will be a visit from Maine College of Art tomorrow morning in the Career Center. If you have considered a career in the art field, this is a great opportunity to learn about programs that are available and the types of jobs they lead to. Congratulations to Interact Club's volunteer of the month for October - Jack Huot! Thank you for your hard work.

The Bobcat Robotics team hosted its inaugural FIRST Lego League Event for students in grades 4-8 this past weekend at Timothy Edwards Middle School. SWHS robotics students served as judges, scorekeepers, sound technicians, ambassadors, MC's and referees. Several students made a video montage of the event for spectator viewing at the end of the event. Members of the Interact Club also helped by volunteering at the event that saw an estimated 300 people in attendance. NBC30 News featured the event on several news segments this past weekend! Congratulations to the two teams from South Windsor who competed in the event. The Technobots won the Robot Design Award and one of four "golden tickets" awarded at the event to attend the Connecticut State Championships. The Blue Sky Bots won an Innovation Project Award and also earned a golden ticket. Thank you to TEMS for hosting the event. Special congratulations to the planning committee of students who planned and orchestrated the very successful event: Pravav Ramesh, Sidharth Masarur, Micheal Ngo, Aarav Nair and Sivani Arvapalli.

We are celebrating DECA for the entire month of November. In 2014, the Town of South Windsor declared November as DECA Month. DECA is the Distributive Education Clubs of America and it prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Our Marketing classes spend the month of November doing all kinds of activities and community service to celebrate DECA.

Attention students attending the field trip with Mr. Smith tomorrow to the Hartford Convention Center for the AMC Future Work Force Opportunities Fair tomorrow. Please meet Mr. Smith in the lobby at 7:50 a.m. The bus leaves at 8:00 a.m. and we will be back at 10:30 a.m. New this year will be an interactive zone with Stanley Black & Decker robots; CCAT hosting simulators and other engaging activities. Mazak is providing a machine tool control simulator and we have also partnered with Quast Media who has created a 360-degree Virtual Reality Tour of The Lee Company. There is a photo release form you will need to get from Mr. Smith and have it signed by your parent or guardian. Please bring the signed form to the lobby. You can get a blank slip from the folder on the wall outside of room 12.

The "Sock it to the Cold" Sock drive is happening now thru Friday, November 22nd! The SADD Club is asking for NEW socks of any kind and size. The socks will be donated to local shelters to help those in need this winter season. Please bring in some socks and put them in the laundry baskets by the Cafeteria or near the Counseling Office.
