SCHOOL NEWS:

The Academic Resource Center (the former Academic Support Club) is now open! If you need help with homework or with studying for a test, please join! We meet every Monday to Thursday from 2 to 3:30 in AN12. A snack and water will be provided. NHS tutors are available to help each day. Please note that there are no late buses on Tuesdays. See Mrs. Barrett with questions.

The Homecoming dance will be on Friday, October 18th from 7-10pm. Tickets are $16, and can be purchased online from Tuesday, October 8th through Tuesday, October 15th. Details will be provided on your grade level Google Classroom. We will not be able to accommodate guests due to our growing enrollment. Please see Ms. Goslin in Room 233 with questions.

The South Windsor for the Local Kids Club is looking for members who are enthusiastic about raising money for the Nicki Cartier Donor Drive to support CCMC. Are you someone who believes that the book is better than the movie? Come check out the library for our new Books to Screen display, featuring books of all genres that have been developed into TV shows and movies such as A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Uglies, Dune, and many more. The library media center has the book to fill in the missing pieces from the screen version.

The Student Council is calling on all of you to vote for this year's Homecoming Spirit Week! We have a wide variety of potential spirit days for you to choose from! Select 3 of them to cast your vote! Go to your class Google Classroom page to fill out the School Wide Spirit Week Vote Form. The form will close by the end of the school day on Tuesday and the results will be announced on Friday, 9/27. Make sure to cast your vote before the end of Bobcat Block today!!!

Girls swimming fought hard but lost to Hall 100-81. Alyssa Nyugen finished first in the 100 butterfly. Stand out swims go to Isabella Chen in 200 IM, Celine Nyugen and Abby Richards in the 500 freestyle, and Anusha Butala in the 100 breaststroke.

COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER:

Career Center visits for the rest of this week include the Connecticut Army National Guard, Endicott College, Western New England University, University of Connecticut, and Plymouth State University. Please sign up in Naviance so that we know there are interested students and do not cancel the visit.

Students in grades 10 or 11 who are interested in learning more about Bristol Technical Education Center as an option for career-based learning are invited to attend an Open House on Thursday, October 3rd at their campus. A flier with more details, including the event time and address is hanging in the Career Center on the Special Programs board. Grade 12 students wanting to learn about careers in the aircraft management industry should attend Connecticut AeroTech’s Open House at their Brainerd Road campus on Saturday, October 5th. A flier for this program can also be found in the Career Center.
