The Academic Support Center is now available! The ASC will meet virtually every Monday to Thursday, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. If you need help with your homework, please sign up! There will be NHS tutors available to help you each day. Please email Mrs. Barrett with any questions.

What does it take to succeed in STEM classes at SWHS? Find out during STEM Night! Juniors: College Planning Partnerships is offering this year's SAT prep class live and online. You can sign up for the 8-week, 20-hour course by going to www.satprepct.com/courses. Make sure to sign up soon to ensure you get the days and times that best suit your schedule. The course normally costs $695, but South Windsor High School juniors can enter the special code SWHS2021 at checkout to receive a $245 discount, reducing the cost to $450.

This is the final date to apply for the largest pool of funds. You can access the scholarship program application portal at www.hfpgscholarships.org There will be additional individual scholarships available through the Hartford Foundation for the next couple of months, but their biggest program will conclude next Friday.

The Teen Center Youth Council has put together a month-long fundraiser to support a nonprofit organization, called Dignity Grows. We are asking for monetary donations from the community that will go towards purchasing hygiene products for those in need. Spread the word and support your local Youth Council and their efforts!

Just effective this week: Chartwells is offering free lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for ALL virtual learners. Next week, we will return to our normal schedule of 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. for all distance learners.

Seniors: The next wave of virtual Capstone presentations will be on Thursday, January 14th from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. In order to be eligible to present, you must submit all of your written work to your adviser's Capstone Google Classroom by TODAY and receive a successful on all work. Postings with your presentation time and Google Meet links will be located on the Capstone Experience Website starting on Tuesday, Jan. 12th. If you have any questions please reach out to your adviser.

SWHS is administering the American Mathematics Contest on Thursday, February 4. This year, the test will be given virtually and administered after school from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The AMC is a national competition consisting of 25 challenging multiple choice problems given over 75 minutes involving a variety of mathematics. There is a version for 9 and 10 graders, and a separate version for 11 and 12 graders with more complex mathematical topics. If you are interested in taking the test, you must sign up for the AMC 10/12 2021 Google Classroom with the code tm75r3l. Once in the classroom, you must fill out the Google Form to reserve a test by TODAY by noon to guarantee a spot taking the test. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Brindisi.

The Interact Club is hosting an Among Us tournament this Saturday, January 9th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. A fee of a $3 donation to an American Red Cross GoFundMe and a completed permission slip will be required to participate. A gift card will be awarded to the winner(s) of the tournament! Links to sign up are on the school website under “Student Activity Fundraisers” and are due TODAY. This tournament is open to everyone so bring your friends and family too!
