The time has come! The Gay Straight Alliance will hold its first meeting of the year today at 2pm in room 148. Stop by and check us out!

Have you ever wanted to try Yoga? The Yoga Club will have their first meeting next Monday, September 24, at 2:15pm in the Chorus Room. No experience is necessary - wear comfortable clothing and try something new. Join our Google Classroom with the code 2vzjbj or see Ms. Lane in Room 6 with any questions.

Extra Senior Parent Night packets are available in the Career Center. If your parent or guardian could not attend the information session earlier this week, stop in and get a folder with helpful information that was reviewed.

Next TUESDAY, representatives from Balfour will come to SWHS to sell class rings. If you are interested in purchasing a ring, the reps will be here from 6:00pm – 7:00pm in the lobby. Informational packets will be distributed in sophomore homerooms. If anyone has any questions, please come see Ms. Dobosz in Room 142. 

DECA will be collecting can goods this week for the South Windsor Food Pantry. They are out of tuna, tomato sauce, and soup. Please donate. There will be boxes in front of the cafeteria for your donations. Thank you for your support. See Mrs. Barrett with any questions. 

The FBLA meeting on September 20th is canceled. The new first meeting and pizza party will be on Thursday, October 4th at 2:00 in room 122. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will have our elections for President on that day. Thank you. 

Academic Support Center has begun. Anyone interested in getting help with their homework can join. For $20 a quarter, you will receive snack and expert help from our tutors. We meet in Room 122 every Monday - Thursday from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Please see Mrs. Barrett or Miss Cruz if you have any questions. 

Model UN students please remember to submit your dues to Mr. Richards in Room 163 by the end of the week. 

There will be an informational meeting for HOSA - Future Healthcare Professionals today at 2:05pm in Room 204. If you are interested in any healthcare profession this is a national organization for students. Any questions, please see Mrs. Belval.

The CHET Advance Scholarship program is currently open to all freshmen and seniors across CT. The program is offered by the CT State Treasury and awards 100 seniors a $2,500 scholarship and 100 freshmen at least a $2,000 scholarship.  Seniors must have at least a 2.0 GPA. There is no grade requirement for freshmen. Recipients are chosen by a random drawing. Apply online at www.chetadvance.com until October 2.

Do you love Science Fiction or Fantasy movies and books? Do you enjoy writing Science Fiction or Fantasy stories? Then you should join the Science Fiction/Fantasy club. The Science Fiction/Fantasy Club will hold its first meeting on Thursday, September 20th, in room 127 from 2-4:30 pm. We will watch and discuss the movie Back to the Future while enjoying snacks. Returning and new members are welcome.

Tomorrow will be a busy day in the Career Center with visits from Smith College, Savannah College of Art & Design, Elms College and Providence College. If you are interested in meeting with any of these schools sign up in Naviance and don’t miss your opportunity.

Connecticut College holds its Explore Weekend for high school seniors from underrepresented groups from November 10-12. The first Student Council meeting for all representatives will be today at 2:10pm in Room 163. New members welcome.  There will be snacks. Come to learn more about the club as we will be discussing goals for the year. Please find Ms. Ullinger if you have any questions.

Athletic News:
-There will be a Boys Basketball Meeting today after school at 2:15pm in Room 102 for returning players only from last year.
-Field hockey beat East Catholic- 12-0.
-The Varsity Girls' Soccer Team beat Windsor Friday by a score of six to zero. The Bobcats, now three and oh got two goals from Rachel Drouin, two more from Karly Suppicich who also added a helper while Lindsay Fishman had a goal and two assists of her own. Taylor Patitucci finished the scoring while Emma Smith had a nice game with two assists. Kelly Morson had a strong game in the mid field while Maria Galley and Chloe Lucia combined for the shutout. The Girls next play at Avon today.
